Promised Land | Goblin Campaign (1.8): Art Thread
Some helpful links: Promised Land Development Thread
Hi everyone,
I just started writing a campaign, Promised Land (for 1.7.15), which focuses on Goblins. Because of the lack of goblin units in mainline, I had to make new units. And a lot. What makes it worse, I'm crappy with art. Seriously. I didn't post the campaign on the add-on server yet because all those new units had sprites that were identical with mainline and a (the orcish archer) sprite from 1.6, which were far better than any try I attempted at. So I'm looking for an artist (or artists if there's too much work, which I suspect) who could kindly help with the sprite work and maybe a portrait or two. If anyone is interested, I can pm you the details. Thank you so much!
EDIT: Now on 1.8!
Current status on sprites.

I think you'd probably get better results if you went ahead and put online what you have. Somebody with art talents will hopefully play your compaign, like it, and decide to fix the art problems themselves.

Ah, ok. First sleep, and tomorrow I'll upload.
Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
Some years ago there was serious work on a "Free goblins era" by "irrevenant" (then also one of the forum moderators) (I helped with some WML then). You may want to use some of its sprites (maybe only as better placeholders until you get something more fitting), history background and/or unit ideas.

I'm currently without work, while King Elendil takes a break. Be happy to try something. (not too great at portraits thought... You may have seen some of my portrait attempts in one of my threads. )

Eh, There's a network communication error each time I try to upload it. I probably will have to wait until later in the day...

Here's an idea. The spear is still under construction, though. I did two alternative armor choices because the brown one almost seemed to blend into the unit's skin. Any requests or changes as to armor etc...?

Looking great to me, so far. Not quite sure with pose, though. I don't know, he looks more like a skirmisher/assassin kinda guy, rather than a noble champion or hero. but I definitely like the brown armor; it's more like the mainline impaler/rouser:
Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
Yeah, I was thinking this would be more of an attack frame than the actual unit frame.elvish_sovereign wrote:Not quite sure with pose, though.

Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
Taleron: You should probably make the spear handle straighter.... Unless it is supposed to look like that if so it could still use a bit more straightening.
Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
I'm working on a more upright version, which is (hopefully) a lot straighter.

Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
Hi,
I have started working on the wolf rider. I'm posting it with the flats.
I wanted to dress him with somewhat colorful and fancy attire (happy joy). That's because I like to see goblins putting on garments raided from human settlements (their previous owners deftly discharged of course ). Anyways, and people indeed wore fancy stuff in those ages and so I hope you get the idea. For the wolf.. I'm aware with the current flats it may look like a rat to many of you (to me it does!) but while shading I'll give some 'wolfish' patters to it. If you would like something to be added, or changed please do so, before I start shading it.

Re: Promised Land: Goblin Campaign
The major, MAJOR problem: wolf riders don't have spears. Unless this is a campaign special.
