Re: E-ville
A frame in between will make the animation a lot smoother, and will use the defense_anim macro to its full effect. Otherwise, that looks pretty good.

The face lacks sharpness, I think. The eyes are not visible enough.
I love the posture and the game with cloak. This lich is so kingly.
The skeleton seems to have the knees down. it gives an interesting style.

Re: E-ville
Thanks, I was actually thinking about those in-between frames. I've been looking at them trying to figure out if I can pull it off. Remember, the impressive stuff is 90%+ Frankie. If I figure out how to do it manageable I probably will, but other higher-level stuff (which this may require drawing pieces completely from scratch rather than modifying to fit) is probably going to wait til I can manage something like the back of the Adept.thespaceinvader wrote:A frame in between will make the animation a lot smoother, and will use the defense_anim macro to its full effect. Most of the face is the original mainline lich. I did mess with the eyes in a way that might have made them less clear though (I TCed the eyes).francophone wrote:The face lacks sharpness, I think. The eyes are not visible enough.

I'm not sure what you mean by "The skeleton seems to have the knees down." Though, I suspect, its related to something that was actually in the original sprite.

I think he meant that the thigh parts look longer than the rest of the legs.Darker_Dreams wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by "The skeleton seems to have the knees down." Though, I suspect, its related to something that was actually in the original sprite.

Re: E-ville
These are... pretty good.
Are you just making animations cause you feel like it or are you using this in a campaign or other project?

Re: E-ville
just because I feel like it, really. I've got a couple campaign and faction ideas I've worked on off and on, but something usually happens to my computer resetting work to 0 before it gets anywhere. This is just entertainment that lets me work on looking at pixel art and figuring out how it goes together to look like what I want it to.

Re: E-ville
went through and did some touchups of things that bothered me right off (a couple pixel-holes, some off-alignments between frames, etc).

Re: E-ville
Wow. I hope you don't mind if I use the Lich lord in a campaign I'm making?
Check out my sprites!

Re: E-ville
Woodmouse; Go right ahead. I've got no real plans (and even if I did, if i wanted to keep something as a surprise to use myself I just wouldn't post it). Besides, everything I've made here is open for use per GPL, heck it's so explicitly derivative of GPL work that I couldn't say anything else... On the other hand, I'd imagine there are very few people around here who would really mind seeing something they made being used.
Elsewise;
My ongoing efforts to figure out how to create stuff like this; Have been spectacularly unsuccessful. In the grand tradition of frankenstining, I played with opacity, resize, and recolor to get these; But that's neither what I really want, nor is it original work. The closest I've gotten from scratch looks like; Anyone got any suggestions for a good tutorial?
Meanwhile, after looking at it for ages, I cut away the ancient-lich's bell-jar shield for use as a halo or otherwise, the inner shading had to be redone, but I think I got it to something passable.

Re: E-ville
While I can draw a hard-edged item, like the lightning (?) you posted, a lot of the magical effects have a glow about them. Heck, a number of the "halos" are simply nimbus glows. I'm just trying to figure out how others do that.
