Re: The User Art Topic
Pedantry is my middle name
The reason I mentioned it is that there is a fairly strict definition of the difference between a walk and a run - when you run, both your feet will be off the ground at the same time for a portions of the cycle, whereas when you walk, at least one foot is always in contact with the ground - it's the definition used by those walking races in the athletics at the olympics. The reason I mentioned it is because you've done a good version of that sort of walk, but it doesn't feel quite like a normal one, nor quite like a run because the feet are never off the ground at the same time.
But enough pedantry. The box jump looks cool, particularly the impact splash and the speed lines when it starts coming down. But I can't help but feel you've overextended it in the middle bit when it's in the air - the shape bows so much in that it seems to be more like an apple core than still being a box. I feel like maybe you pushed the exaggeration a touch too far there. But the squash-and-stretch looks great overall, that's nice stuff
Oh, to have time do draw. Hopefully, assuming the computer I'm using doesn't crash too much, I will have some in the next couple of days.

Shouldn't it squash upon hitting the ground?

Re: The User Art Topic
...I keep forgetting about this thread.
</stupidtouhoujoke>
Edit: so...still trying to get the hang of digital painting. I think my main problem is that drawing on the computer makes me feel like banging my head against the wall (hence the unfinished shading, uncleaned lines, and spotty coloring job), but...can anybody see anything that could use improving about what I'm doing here? I really feel like something's missing. Note that the only thing that's really shaded is the coat, and, well...I'm not too interested in hearing about technical details of things like the gun/the anatomy/the uniform/whatever, I know all that's messed up

Re: The User Art Topic
Been trying my hand at different sprite art just to break from the dwarves.
So far it's WIP, but it's quite nice working on a slightly larger scale.
C&C welcome, The outline is just pure black for the moment, that'll change in time. I'm also thinking of adding a touch of purple into the darker shades.

Re: The User Art Topic
Looks cool. You've come a long way, remembering the original bóndi sprite you made some months back. I'm really not sure which of the lighter shades are fur tone and which are actual shades, but I for one can't see anything terribly wrong with for now.

Re: The User Art Topic
Thanks .
Yeah the fur's proving to be a major pain, I'll probably ending up messing around with it for ages before getting it right.

Re: The User Art Topic
Thanks for the reference Jet, I've tried begining to add fur, I'm going to change the colour of the underside of the snout so there's greater contrast. I can't tell how good it is, had a mental day and I've been stressing for the last couple of days and can't let go of it, despite having nothing to stress about.

Re: The User Art Topic
Nice coloration on the nose, and details on the eye. Are you going to add detail inside the ears or just shade them appropriately?

Re: The User Art Topic
O-oh my god
Welcome back, Turuk!
Back on topic: aside from what Turuk mentioned, something strikes me as strange about the contrast between the "sideburns" and the short fur on the top of the head; the one looks very rough, almost like twigs, while the other looks almost like shiny rubber.
As you mentioned, though, fur is hard....good work, and keep going c:

Re: The User Art Topic
The stubble will heventually be all over, just it does take a little while to get right. And yes the ears and everything else will be shaded, again heventually.

A portrait I did for a graphic article on Alan Moore:
Alan Moore
Really like it, but used way too much time for a single, if introductory, panel.

Wow! Really nice and fits the guy! You say it's an introductory panel - will you do the others, too? Please post them when they are done!
