Orc rank/selection of leadership?

I was wondering weather their is any established information on how orcs go about establishing leadership. Is it based on skill? Brute strength? Inheritance? Democratic vote? Also, how is rank in orcish society determined? Friendship/relationship with the chief? Skill as a warrior? Age and experience? I need this information for the story for the campaign I'm writing, since I don't want to inadvertently contradict any established continuity.

Yes, I guessed it would be some sort of rule by force thing, but I wasn't sure.

Anyway, works fine for me, as the established nature of orc politics pretty well matches what I was intending to write.

Orc 2: "No, Dek is better leader by far."
Orc 3: "Hmm... they should settle this in enlightened debate."
Orcs 1 & 2: "Agreed!"

Grak: "I make good leader. I am strong. You vote for me!"
Orcs: "We vote for Grak!"
Dek: "I make better leader. I am stronger! You vote for me now!"
Orcs: "We vote for Dek!"
Grak & Dek: *start fighting*
Grak: *kills Dek*
Orcs: "We vote for Grak!"
