Maybe he is receiving last orders right before the attack? Reporting back from battle or scouting? It is his one and only weapon and his raison d'etre, why would he not have it at hand? Soldiers do a lot of talking while holding their weapon. Also, he does not necessarily support the weight of the lance with his hand, its rear end might actually rest in some kind of lance stirrup, or it is tied to the saddle.
Let's end this question, you may look these.

I said enough. Listen next time.

You may find your posts being deleted, at best, if you do not. This sort of discussion is utterly unproductive, and serves only to demoralise our artists. Trust me on this, I'm one of them.

I'll have my say on this, if you allow.

There was a lance planned at some point. There really was. However, the cropping limits lead me to a choice between either a grip that would have seemed uneasy, or a posture unsuited for dialog. There wasn't a clear solution, so I delayed and went on with the rest of the portrait. By the time I was done, the portrait looked just as fine without a lance.

So now here it is without a lance and I'm happy with it, so it's not getting one. Period.

Committed the Grand Knight alternate portrait and Lancer. Congratulations, LordBob, on a job outstandingly well done. I'll put this thread to bed in Art Dev for easier archiving and less chance of needless noise attachment, as you suggest.

The Pikeman is wearing plate armour, while his portrait is uses a leather armour.
After far too long an absence, I have returned.
According to the quiz 100% Silver Mage (85% Archmage, 75% Shyde, 67% Flameheart and Ancient Wose,58% Assassin, Troll Warrior and Berserker). And my top score is exactly how I see myself.

The art is all done, and the art does not have to match the sprite, there is leeway in the designs.

To an art dev/mod/etc: you should probably move this to the Art Dev thread to make sure to limit additional comments. (btw GJ LordBob on completion)
