Oh, please no. The kid has to live with the name it's whole live.
Delfador is a nice name. If all else fails though, you could always name him after Dave. ;)

Wow, congratulations. :D
Well we don't know whether it's a boy or a girl, but we have a few alternatives. Boy names is hard though, especially since 95% of them mean "god rocks!" or something, which feels kinda wrong (as both me and the Missus are atheists). But yeah, I promise to post a few pictures.
Yeah, I'm kinda past my atheist phase, ironically mostly due to a science/math education. :| Anyways, I'm not personally opposed to theistic names like I used to be, since I think a lot of the intent there is less about the deity, and more about the ideals it represents, but YMMV and it ain't my kid. If it rubs you the wrong way, you obviously don't want to pick it. I'd probably pick some name that represents an ideal you're fond of.

You might find this site very useful: http://www.behindthename.com/
This is an example of the background it gives: http://www.behindthename.com/name/matthias

Speaking of which, my name is probably terrible on that front: Richard => Ric/Reich (e.g. 'rule/lead') + hard (either in the sense of being harsh/authoritarian, or unyielding, firm, and evenhanded). Might be a better name if I were a feudal lord, rather than a dorky computer nerd.

:geek: Yes, I'm a nerd for etymology.

If you name it after a fantasy character, I will be the first person to kill a man through the internet. Just on principle.

Houston, we have touchdown.

At 8:04 this morning, my wife gave birth to Iris, a perfectly healthy baby girl (3912g, 53cm).

Tyler, thanks.

And don't worry, I won't forget about you. I'm sure there's a turbulent time ahead with a lot of new things to get used to, not to mention a lot of new responsibilities. But at the same time I feel more relaxed and motivated to get back to working on my music again. This seemingly endless waiting was driving me nuts, I couldn't focus on anything. Looking back, I've spent the last six months or more fretting and wondering how I'm going to react to becoming a parent.

But now the page is turned and a new chapter begins.

Congrats, and have fun changing diapers :P , but what does (3912g, 53cm) equate to in pounds and inches/feet? they don't teach us the metric scale very well in the U.S.

According to my little iPhone application here, what West was trying to say is:

"My wife gave birth to a beautiful healthy 8.6 lbs 1' 8" baby girl" :D

Damn metric system, thank god for calculators.

3912(g) x 2.205= 8.62596 lbs
53(cm) x 0.394= 20.882 inch (approximate 1' 9")
