Writers on the Wiki

Post by melinath »

I've added [wiki]Create Writing[/wiki] to the Wiki, analogous to Create Music and Create Art. Go ahead and modify it however you want. (If anyone can remove it from Category:Campaigns, that would be helpful!)

In connection with that: here's a task for you if you're bored on a rainy afternoon. Go to CampaignDialogue and add some dialogue from a campaign of your choice. This is meant to be a general reference for writers so that you don't always have to pluck what's said out of the WML.

If you want all the dialogue from all the campaigns, I'm pretty sure that there's a tool to get it... wmlgettext, or something?

I don't know about a tool, but one can download .po files from http://gettext.wesnoth.org/ if that's how one prefers working. I don't really like the look of the po files - there's a lot of information in them that I don't want and a lot of context that I miss. For example, I don't just want to know what's said, I want to know if it's said at a death, on turn 5, a start event, etc.

For those interested in talking about writing in real time, I have created an IRC channel for such a purpose. Contact me for details.

Melinath, if you could add this to the wiki page, I'd be much obliged.
