Announcing Battle for Wesnoth ... the action game!

Post by Jetrel »

In what can only be the next logical step from making a turn based tactical strategy game, we've decided to extend the long arm of OSS into the realm of side-scrolling adventure titles (c.f. mario, castlevania, etc).

Gripping, pulse-pounding adventure awaits, as you bravely infiltrate The Fortress of Ultimate Darkness, and fight for your life against the minions of evil incarnate. Just wait till you see the [censored] bats.

Expect a tarball of the source soon. ;)

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing something like this, but I would prefer more of a top-down classic Zelda view. I guess there is already Graal, but an Free alternative would be awesome.

The best way to learn is to follow. In order to learn WML, you have to follow other's work, and check their codes.

Talk about squeaking it in at the last minute. ;)

So when can we expect to play a demo?

You do know that you could make something like this in RPG Maker, right? It would be simple, compared to all this coding for Wesnoth we all do.
Ehhhh... don't mind me, I'm just the annoying little modder who gets on peoples nerves. I'll just lurk till Someone says my name. :P

Yeah, the hour difference almost caught me. Thus, the reference to timezones in my comment (in which I didn't want to ruin the fun).

The note about bats was quite funny. Bats in those games are insufferable.

...Heck, I could probably build a working engine using Python in a week or so, classes notwithstanding.
Feel like giving it a go? ;)

I'm wondering why you quote me. I quoted a GMT time thus the maximum I could expect was 12 hours delay, which is still later than 12pm, therefore: late.

This game Rulz! But you really can't expect to just use the Wesnoth musical score, it really needs some new tunes...

Huh? Why does it have to be in by 12pm? April Fool's day would be the whole day through to midnight...

When he posted it, it was still before midnight on the western coast of the US, and thus still April 1st.
