Pikeman's done, yeehee! :D The gondorian helm design works wonders, thanks to you Pipeman, and he now wears a decent-looking brigandine.
The dialog portrait is 500*500 in order to accomodate the pike, but the small portrait has a different crop so that it can be viewed in a propoer scale

Next I'll be inking the halberdier, and after him I'll start the bowmen line.

Congrats, it looks really nice. and I like the sensation the new helm gives :D

The brigandine looks awesome as well, tought I find something strange with the lower scale portrait.

On the transparent one, I see a dark beard that looks really nice, but on the small one, I don't see the same reflections (the orange of the beard is clearer, like it has less "shadows" overall)

The color of the beard gives me the impression of majestic/royalty, and impress me more on the bigger portrait than on the smaller (its possible to fix this?).

Thank you for the nice impact (pleasing eye) you just gived me.

Vendanna: remember that the forum software messes up the colours. You need to click to see the real thing.

Ah, I didn't know about that.

Still, as curious as it may sound to you, I prefer the messed up colour on the beard it gives, since for my eye it gives more "real" look. (not saying that the picture isn't a masterpiece because it is)

I think that using a darker shadow on the beard would benefit the image as a whole, but that's up for the artist to consider.

Waiting for the next in line :)

Good point about the beard : now I have them both on screen, I prefer the "messed-up" forum colours. I'll take care of that. In the end I think I still have trouble adjusting the overal constrat of my pictures: several of them look better with the forum artifact.

In the small portrait, scaling had erased the rivets of the brigandine which looked like a mere leather tunic; so I added pinpoint grey touches, but I guess they can be improved.

There'll be a new version of both portraits sometime today.

Must be something wrong with me - for most of the portraits I've seen on the forums, I prefer the 'messed up' versions that have greater contrast and perhaps less saturation.

The saurians, the dwarves, the loyalists. All of em. I was really surprised by the actual appearance of that saurian with the buckler and spears.

Another masterpiece, eh? Hell, he looks great!

Impoving the contrast and giving the scaled down portrait little more shadows could make the picture even better. But I like our new pikeman anyway. Good job, LobBob!

beautiful again! the new helmet is just perfect and that brigandine!
but yeah, the beard needs more contrast and perhaps a bit desaturation, too.

who will be next?

I fiddled with the saturation & levels of the pikeman: the final result should be closer to the first "messed-up" version, including the beard. Eventually I'll do the same with the entire loyalist series.

The pikeman should now be ready for comittment.
As for who's next, Pipeman's almost right: I'll soon be done with the inking of the halberdier, but I've also been working on the javelineer, whom I forgot to mention in my previous listing.

wow, you've outdone yourself again. I was a bit skeptical with the pikeman's initial design but I love the way it looks now in the end.
