Descent into Darkness problem: alone at last

I'm not sure if it a glitch in my computer or something, but I have killed everyone in alone at last, and a Draug has the book. He is in the summoning spot in Malin's castle, but nothing happens. I've moved it to every castle space, but still nothing happens. Does anyone know the problem? by the way, I have version 1.5.6

It's happening because of a certain unfortunate bug in 1.5.6.

The easiest (and completely fair, no cheating involved) way to get around that is to use the debug mode and do:

:unit role=book_carrier

...while having the pointer over your book-carrying unit. After that, victory should trigger normally when moving it to your castle.

I tried that, but when I typed it in as :unit role=book_carrier, it said that the command was unknown. When I typed it in as unit role=book_carrier, without the :, it said the command is currently unavailable. Any other advice?
