Re: Desert Elves
There's a goblin (or was it a dark elf?) lizard rider somewhere that could be adapted =)

Re: Desert Elves
Theres both actually, but stick with the horses. Various middle eastern/desert people are renown for their horsemanship, so it fits fine.thespaceinvader wrote:There's a goblin (or was it a dark elf?) lizard rider somewhere that could be adapted =)
Re: Desert Elves
Surely if they're Desert Elves, camal riders might be more suitable? (for the obvious reasons that they can survive longer in hotter temperatures)Neoskel wrote:Theres both actually, but stick with the horses. Re: Desert Elves
Lets review the facts (if you can call elves fact...). The desert elves are descended from forest elves. Forest elves have horses and both their horsemanship and horse breeds are renowned as the best there is. Horses do fine in arid lands, especially since the elves will be living in the more hospitable parts of the desert in the first place. The elves would have to trade in the speed and maneuverability of their horses to deal with a strange new creature whose chief qualities are endurance and stubbornness. There is also already a precedent for desert horsemen, people in the real world have pulled it off very well. In fact, Arabian horses were some of the best in their time.Quietus wrote:Surely if they're Desert Elves, camal riders might be more suitable? Which is why i feel that the desert elf horsemen should at least not be replaced by camels. A separate camel cavalry work work i suppose.
Camel cavalry would have to be slower than horse cavalry, but perhaps with more health.

Re: Desert Elves
So does anybody know where those are? I'd like to use them for reference. Btw Mist, what would the lizard rider be used for?Neoskel wrote:Theres both actually, but stick with the horses. In the meantime, I've created the attack frame for the scout, assuming that nothing's wrong with the base sprite.

Re: Desert Elves
Didn't dark elves in EE have lizard riders? I think I saw a mention of these somewhere.Federalist marshal wrote:So does anybody know where those are?
As a basic cavalry (main 3 lvl tree) as opposed to highly specialised, less numerous and elite horse riding bunch (current lvl2 branch).Federalist marshal wrote:Btw Mist, what would the lizard rider be used for?

Re: Desert Elves
Extended Era has Dark Elf Lizard Riders, Imperial Era has Goblin Lizard Riders. They use different lizards.Federalist marshal wrote:So does anybody know where those are? Re: Desert Elves
I managed to find the Dark Elf lizard and put a Desert Elf mount on him. Note that I changed the head to look more saurian. I haven't found the Imperial Era lizard yet...

Re: Desert Elves
Why green ? Make the reptile sandy or something Evolution, enviromental adaptation and other similar stuff
Besides that, it might look better if you made it more like crocodile (body carried close to the ground)

Re: Desert Elves
I've refined the attack frame a bit and made the two ranged frames for the scout.

Re: Desert Elves
Desert Hero.
This one seems more like a recoloring, but I'd still like to keep the Wood-Elf Hero's pose. Any suggestions on how I could augment his appearance?

Re: Desert Elves
It looks a little odd having the bow for the scout come in front of the head of the horse when firing to the opposite side - the horse's head would be very much in the way. Is that how the wood elf one is?

Re: Desert Elves
Perhaps you could change his swords, make them slightly curved or a different color. Also, he has fur-lined boots, which would be a terrible idea in a desert; try giving him some leather ones, maybe.Federalist marshal wrote:Desert Hero.
