Draw by repitition on Isar's!
So I got bored and I sort of thought northerners and undead had an advantage on isar's so I set up an AI battle that's currently going on right now.
It's currently turn 334.
The northerners have like 20 guys, the undead only have their leader, a level 3 necromancer backed into a village where only two squares can attack. They can't seem to bring him down lol
Come watch if you're bored

edit: I wonder if this actually is a draw of it the bruteforce ai needs to be tweaked?
edit2: Currently at turn 460, and thinking about it, it can't be a draw, the northerner AI should make nothing but assassins and change poison the necro, that would probably win eventually.

Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
Turn 3888? Seriously?
Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
But I think this is a beautiful example situation that we should store some place (togheter with other more obvious cases) for future reference when it comes to AI-programming.

Is it still running? I'll be at home in an hour or two and I'd love to take a look.
Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
I just woke up and it made it to turn 3888
Eventually the RNG must have just caught up with the necro
Still that's nuts!

Could have been worse. How'd you bring it down if it were a lich. Assassins won't do.
I presume you were playing on default era, and I don't think a lich comes down by troll whelps due to drain.

Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
with lich you'd suicide archers, I guess.
If enough people bang their heads against a brick wall, The brick wall will fall down
Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
Yea, the AI didn't seem to like to suicide its guys, which were necessary.
It eventually got brought down by a level 2 troll and leveled up grunt (at least that's what I think happened, watching 3888 turns on anything other than skip all animations and 16x accel is impossible)

Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
There would be 2 ways for the northie to win.
Either try with assasin so that the helaing from village stops due to the poison.
Or get a lvl3 himself. ( This is: attack with say 2 whelps, both get 3 xp, evben if one dies use 2 new whelps to attack and so on )
The 3xp will sum up as time goes by and the units level. -> time to kill

Re: Draw by repitition on Isar's!
Meh, the main problem is that when a unit is too strong to attack, the ai will generally not attack, but still puts his units next to them.
Example (earlier in that game):
-orcish archer in village
-skeleton attacks archer, doesn't kill him
-skeleton archer moves next to village too, does not attack (because he's too weak against the orcish one, but this way you'll never win)
-next turn orcish archer kills skeleton
Same pattern repeats itself during the rest of the game:
-orc moves 2 units next to necromancer
-necromancer attacks one of them
[1]
-necromancer kills unit
[/1]
[2]
-necromancer hurts unit
-orc moves unit away
[/2]
[3]
-necromancer misses
[/3]
[1|2]
-orc moves new unit there
[/1|2]
only time this doesn't happen is if the orc considered his units strong enough (naga, rocklobbers), but it usually only had one of those close enough, and they died quickly.
