More new units...

Post by tigrezno »

For elves -> humans that evolves to bears (like Beorn in The Hobbit) and water elementals

For undead -> wolfman

For orcs -> minotaur

For loyals -> electric or wind elementals

For drakes -> fire elementals

For dwarves -> earth elementals

Personally, while I think Elementals might be useful for some Quest-related scenarios, I don't feel that the suggested units fit the present factions very well.

They could also be humans that level up into wolves, which in turn level up into humans. :wink:

Golems might be an interesting addition to the dwarves...

I don't think the Dwarves need yet another strong, slow unit.

Well thats what Dwarves are about. If the fellers that make wesnoth would make it accurate, Dwarves would crush all opposition. :wink:

They won't. Wesnoth is about gameplay, not realism.

graphics are where...? :)

and i dislike all of these ideas (thats getting rather common :( ). they don't fit with the current factions. elementals are IMHO generally a bad idea. and minotaur has nothing to do with orcs, other than both are generally considered 'evil'.

I agree. Elementals seem to me to have be created from magic, and not recruitable. Minotaurs are in no way connected to orcs. The saurian goes far enough. Also, werewolves have been discussed already and rejected, and the idea of humans leveling into bears and back sounds strange and not elf-like.

word.

The only way in which minotaurs have been associated with orcs is through the game Warcraft III, and uh, this isn't warcraft. Really.

Warcraft 3 sucks. Let's not try to emulate it.

If the 'fellers' that made Wesnoth would make it accurate, dwarves would be too drunk to crush anything more than gravel under their boots.

The point is we have multi-racial factions. For example I find it very odd that Dwarves and thieves are in the same faction. Although it can make sense in campaigns. Dwarves have their own thieves, right?

Of course there is no rule factions should be one race only and I think there shouldn't be one. Elves and mermen are allied? Why not (unless one adds aquatic elves :wink: )?

Although it would look odd if all others are semi-woodland beings. Like the ogre which looks totally out of place in the loyalist faction which is all-human except for ogres.

..Anyway.. if Gryphons are dwarven only, one could have pegasi-riders or
(giant) eagle-riders. Or a second aerial unit (one focused on a lance-based charge).

Unicorns could be rebel too, unridden, with dispel (doesn't heal, but does stop poison and curses (such as slow), one special horn attack and four hoove attacks.

Indeed, we could erase all human influence creating mostly lighter-armoured elven cavalry.

Well.. I am not saying that's all desirable (or any of this).. but I have been thinking about it, so there. :)

Yes, and they would not be aligned with those theives.
Na'enthos wrote:curses (such as slow)
Slow is not a curse; it is a physical impediment. I don't see why dispel should remove it.
The only curse other than poison is stone, so I don't see how dispel would be useful.
