What emperor are we talking about? I admit I don't know everything about Wesnoth's timeline, but I'm unaware of any emperor anywhere. Unless there is one, I vote for Weldyn Loch.

Weldyn Water (Lakes in UK are of often just called 'Water', eg Wastwater, Grafham Water etc.)
Weldyn Lake
Weldyn Wash
Weldyn Wold
The Old Quarry
Emperor's Quarry
The Old Chalk Pit
Flooded Chalkmine
Weldyn Chalkmine
Sandstone Mine
Old Castle Moat

[vague ramblings]For some reason I don't like 'Emperor'. Bit too grandiose, maybe. Place names tend not to be. Places are named according to local legends/settlers/history aren't they? I suppose an Emperor could have passed that way. 'King' is a bit more local and more credible to my ear. Maybe even consider other noble titles...[/vague ramblings]

Baron's Pool
Pond of the Sick Baron
Earl Weldyn's Rest
Viscount Pit

Emperor's Pool (Emperor once stopped by here for a swim)
Emperor's Toe (He had it bitten off by a giant pike/sea monster during said swim)
Emperor's [insert body part]

I really like the sound of "Baron....", Baron's Loch, etc. Thanks, bert1. I liked your Tenbeast story, by the way. Perhaps a bit heavier (children dying and what not) than I'd ultimately want to use for a map description though.

At the moment, it's between Baron's Loch and Weldyn Loch, so cast your votes. Perhaps a poll would be useful.

Charge is currently between Tenbeast Vale and The Freelands.

Being the jingoistic [censored] that I am, I'm not overly keen on Loch, as it sounds too Scottish.

Quite apart from the fact that Scotland is "a dark place, tolerant of homosexuals", using 'Loch' would be mixing languages a little, which is why I suggested the alternatives of 'lake' or 'water' or 'pool', as these are less place-specific and hence transferred more easily to a fantasy setting without evoking images of deep-fried pizzas. (I do actually like Scotland, by the way).

The energy spent making this point far exceeds the force of my feeling, however, so if you still want to go with 'Loch' I will bear it with grace.

(And yes, my Tenbeast story was a bit depressing. I'll go for something more upbeat next time :) )

EDIT: Just to be clear, I think Baron's Loch or Weldyn Loch are both very nice-sounding names. It's just the association with a real place that jarrs.

EDIT 2: Re: Meteor Lake. How about Meatier Lake due to it being better stocked with fish and/or corpses than other lakes? Or perhaps even just Meat Lake.

Objection to "Loch" noted. ;)

I'd also considered Weldyn Channel, as the definition of "channel" seems sufficiently vague to cover it. I actually like the sound of "channel" more than "loch;" I think the main question is whether or not that branch of the river connects all the way to the sea. It would seem that it does, though it becomes invisible (on the map) when it passes through the mountains.

Also, on the subject of water-formation-alternatives- I'm trying to think of the term for a section of river that would be shaped as Blitz is.....Essentially a river that widened greatly, then narrowed again.

in french we simply say the river is looping ("les boucles de la seine")

don't know if their is an english equivalent

if it happens at the end of the river, we call it a "delta"

Thanks for trying guys, but it's certainly not a delta, and it's not really a meander.

"Weldyn Channel" is my favorite at the moment.

Charge will almost certainly be "The Freelands."

Screaming out my lungs in an attempt to spread my belief that Charge takes place in the mountain range south by southwest of Weldyn

Charge:
Dulatus Divide
Divide of Dulatus

Dulatus Hills
Springs of Dulatus

What is the genitive/possesive form of Dulatus?
Does it deflect as Latin; "Dulati Divide"?
