Would their biggest fear be a boiling pot and melted butter?
Seriously, these could work as I've seen types like these before in other fantasy games.
These types of creatures would be amphibious, but slow moving on land, fast in ocean, same as Mermen I guess. They'd have good defense but their attacks would have to be low to compensate or strong but melee only as I can't see them gripping anything to use for ranged or even throwing. They'd probably have a weakness against impact type moves.
The reason there's probably not many Merman type adventures as there's not many different foes for the scenarios. Crab or Lobster type men would fit the bill for at least something different, eh?

Neo's Chaos faction has an awesome evil crab-monster sprite, and an upgrade of it. neither is animated.Edward V Riley wrote:Would their biggest fear be a boiling pot and melted butter?

..but high defence, because they keep moving sideways. These types of creatures would be amphibious, but slow moving on land...
I don't think they would necessarily have to be too anthropomorphic, maybe more in the lines on garthim in Dark Crystal. Also, there could be several types, big slow ones, that are essentially like amphibious heavy infantry and light, long legged ones to be used as scouts. Maybe some pillbug types as well, or shrimplike ones that only move in water.
And since they walk on the bottom instead of swim, they would have submerge skill as default.

I got it too;Dragon Master wrote:Please tell me I'm not the only one who gets this.Ken Oh wrote:I'm sure he's talking about adding a giant enemy crab.
Wesnoth has no Wurms/Wyrms either (basically, dragon-snakes)
Lobster monsters would need a requisite that they turn red when attack with fire.
I actually made a wyrm somewhere, a small one; it was in my massive monster thread!

well... there ARE tumonkers... but you are right, there can NEVER be enough plant monstersEdward V Riley wrote:Plant creatures are in short supply as well. Yes, I know of the Wose, but I'm speaking of Mandragoras and the like. A pumpkin stalked creature(I've seen some of these in Medieval, the PS1 action game about an undead knight) would fit ok.

Serious your spriting skills aren't bad.

Centaurs and Elves?Edward V Riley wrote:Centaurs at least would fit in good with the elves at least, right?
Elves in Wesnoth tend to be farsighted, benevolent, and civilized. Centaurs tend to be nasty, lustful, and wild.
so...
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

In some cases, that's true, but in others they're close allies.
Great...as usual I'm inspired... Taur leads me to Minotaur and wondering why these aren't in Wesnoth yet. They could be part of orcs or could be their own race and faction(As they are in Dragonlance).
