Hero of Allacrost -- New Demo Released (0.2.0)

Post by Roots »

Its been a while since I last talked about Allacrost on this forum (previous discussion here and here). We're on the verge of reaching another major milestone, and as proof we have some new screenshots that we released earlier this morning, as well as a second release of our demo on the way. Screenshot thumbnails are below; click them to view the full-sized image.

I appreciate any thoughts, comments, or criticism you might have about these screens or anything about the game in general. I'll update this thread when our demo has been released. :)

About Hero of Allacrost -- Website: http://www.allacrost.org

Hero of Allacrost is a single player 2D role-playing game that shares similar appearance and gameplay as classical console RPGs. In Hero of Allacrost, the player will explore rich environments, solve challenging dungeon puzzles, and fight strategic battles in an active-time based system. The game is free open-source software and is available across several platforms including Windows, OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD.

We released our demo last night. Go to our website to download it and check it out. A lot of Wesnoth people have contributed large amounts of work to this release too. :)

Roots: I edited the thread title to indicate that the demo was released, so people don't still think this is just screenshots.

Doesn't work in ubuntu feisty since there is a missing dependency of libluabind.

Go post on the allacrost forums - there've been a few others with this issue (not sure if one of them is you under a different screenname); one of them might have a solution - and in any case, IIRC one of the devs is an ubuntu user, so there's some internal incentive to get this worked out.

I am an ubuntu user and I use my ubuntu machine to develop for Allacrost half the time. The .deb package won't work for Ubuntu because that package is meant for Debian unstable, which has a different libc version than Feisty Fawn. What you have to do is install it from source, and you'll also need to install the Luabind library from source, since there is no Ubuntu package for Luabind right now. I posted a thread with instructions on how to install Luabind from source here: http://www.allacrost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1433

For what architectures is the Debian package available (I assume i86 only since nothing else is mentioned)?

I'm not sure, but I think its only i386. The game can most certainly run on PPC Debian, but I don't think this package supports it yet. I think we should try and get Allacrost in the official Debian repositories sometime soon here.
