TOC3: The Bracket, the Maps and the Rules

Post by Doc Paterson »

This will be a condensed version of the massive post that was lost to forum issues.

If your name is listed first, you won the coin toss, and you'll start as player one in game one. For game two, you'll be player two, and, for game three (if necessary), you'll revert to player one (A wordy way of saying "switch sides every game." :P )

If you're late for your match, your fate is in the hands of your opponent. If they don't want to reschedule with you, that's that- They'll advance and you won't. Starting at (or before, if both players agree) 19:00 GMT, May 5th, you must play at least one match with your opponent. Playing more than one game on that initial day is encouraged. You have until 19:00 GMT on May 12th (the start of Round Two) to finish your matches. I'd like the winner of the set to either post the replays in the replay archive (I'd prefer this), or, PM them to me. If you don't know how to do this, ask someone.

* * *Special Note * * * I will only consider bending the rules to accomodate scheduling issues if you are a former TOC Champion. (Fortunately, there aren't many of those.)

If you have any questions about anything, PM me, and I'll respond as quickly as I can.

I see no comment on release we are using? Typically it is most current, but I wonder if the players are aware of that?

At the time of the tournament's planning, 1.3.1 was the available dev release, and as it had some problems, I thought it'd be best to play on stable, and announced that the tournament would be played on the stable server. Even though we have a solid dev release right now (1.3.2), I don't think I should change that original statement- A lot of the entrants may not have had time to adjust to some of the major changes.

Next tournament will be dev though, so be prepared.

Hey Cackfiend,

I PM'd you, but haven't gotten any responses. Are you available to reschedule our match tonight or tomorrow night? I'm organizing a birthday party for a 1 yr old during match-time tomorrow so won't be able to make it. After the party is fine, Sunday is fine, or Friday night.

Or you could move quickly because the incentive not to do otherwise is that you'll be wasting your own time.

.................

Pressure is not needed for this game.
It should not take you more than 5-10 minutes at most to figure out your moves
Time limits lead people to make unwize choices because they rush, but in reality not much time is realy needed.
Intentinal stalling will call in requests for your removal from the tournament.
Take your time, however don't stall, and it should not realy take you very long.

F8 couldn't make it at the scheduled time, so we agreed to play Sunday. He never showed up; I waited from morning 'til well into the night. I got no response to the two PMs I sent that day. Today the same scenario happened, and again he has not replied to my PM. I have AP exams the coming week, so I can't wait any longer. Since I really would hate to just lamely win by default, I'm playing the only person on the wait list who was present at the time, Thrawn.
