Healer stopping the effect of poison on allied units

Post by viorc »

Considering the fact that a healer can heal any allied adjacent unit, I was wondering if he could in the same way stop the effect of poison on allied unit.

It could have impact on the strategy to fight Knalgan alliance as poisoning them is a well established tactic against these slow units. They could receive a boost in their efficiency when allied to faction with healer.

If the current description of the heal+4 ability states:

Code: Select all

Heals +4:
Allows the unit to heal adjacent friendly units at the beginning of each turn.
A unit cared for by this healer may heal up to 4 HP per turn, or stop poison from taking effect for that turn.
A poisoned unit cannot be cured of its poison by a healer, and must seek the care of a village or a unit that can cure.
however as reported in this bug, the current behavior of the ability is quite different: the current heal+4 does not affect allied units that are poisoned.

A more accurate description for the current heal+4 ability would be:

Code: Select all

Heals +4:
Allows the unit to heal adjacent friendly units at the beginning of each turn.
Any allied unit cared for by this healer may heal up to 4 HP per turn. Any friendly units cared by him also sees poison stopped from taking effect for that turn.
A poisoned unit cannot be cured of its poison by a healer, and must seek the care of a village or an unit that can cure.
PS: "Friendly units" is taken here in the way it is used for defining leadership (ie. excluding allies)

Considering the lack of reaction, I sent a patch implementing that change of behaviour.
It seems it will not be integrated in version 1.2.x but will be in 1.3
