The server is the same, we just need a strong machine to run it one because we've more users. Alternatively you'll have to wait until we find ways to reduce it's load per user.

Most players of 1.0 switched over and 1.1.x had its own userbase. Now they're joined at a time of the year where many are at home...

I'm sure the developers appreciate your thanks, Burning Suns.
New2, that's quite enough of your server complaints. I understand other officials have had to reprimand you on this matter. Understand that further discussion of the issue, save to offer a solution, is unnecessary, and will not be well looked upon.
If you do not understand that message, I will arrange to have it translated for you.

What is required of a server? I have a machine that's used only for offsite backups, which has 10Mbit/sec connectivity to the Internet through a real multihomed connection which I can probably spare some capacity. It runs Debian Linux.

The main problem is probably to have enough RAM so it can use a lot of threads to server everyone in a timely manner. Otherwise users with a slow connection can slow down the overall speed considerably.

The main requirements of a server are,
- decent Internet connection
- 512 MB of RAM to dedicate to wesnothd
- a decent CPU
- must give developers shell access
- must be able to promise that the server will be around for a while

Well - "maybe" - the server in mind is a P4 2.4GHz, with 512MB ram *total*. However, it is only used as a slave DNS server most of the time, and in the small hours (GMT) to rsync data from a couple of other servers. It's likely to stick around for at least the next 12 months (no plans to remove it, it's kind of needed to do that rsync job!)
If that's good enough, let me know.
