Various attack icons - your request fufilled!... maybe

Post by Xan »

Here's a few attack icons I created recently; and since I've been feeling artistic lately, if anyone likes this style and has an icon they want for their favorite hero/unit in a campaign/faction, I might be able to come up with something for it.

It's great, but the sword's cross-guard makes it seem like a short sword... not the most menacing of implements ;)

In D&D, maybe.
In reality, it's an ideal thrusting weapon in close quarters.
Not to mention that those guards could also be used to trap an enemy blade.
Maybe it's a parrying dagger attack icon... for the fencer...

Perhaps you want to make a Frost Elven mountainclimbing pickaxe? ;)

I'd like some dagger/swords for the Naga Depthstalker please :)

A flail/morning star for my steppe orcs would be good. Something similar to the existing morning star image but cruder, with more ball, shorter spikes and sans the wooden handle,

PS. I love the sandstorm icon. Does any mainline unit use it?

Though I can't see a "current use by mainline" for these, I'm going to clean them up and commit them, and also give them to allacrost.

Allacrost uses the same format for item/technique icons; this is synergistic because our library focuses on attacks, and theirs has a need for items. We tend to have things we don't immediately need, and that's a lot of help in creating new campaigns/etc.

Or in better terms "daggers/swords for Nagas". Period.

The entire race doesn't have a single unique attack icon to itself. (Specific ones for specific units would of course be nice, too).

Meaning the handle simply not visible, or a different kind?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of.

I just noticed that due to the higher range of colors output on my screen, the fist-fire looks good on my screen, but a lot worse on most. :|

So Wesnoth supplies Attack Icons for UMC and Allacrost and the latter produces items which can then find their way into Wesnoth in the hope to find use there? Sounds nice, that's how Open Source should work transfered to the level of graphics, I'd say. :D

Like the weapon held by my avatar unit. Just a spiky ball on a long chain. (As opposed to spiky ball attached to wooden haft via short chain which is what the default morning star image consists of.)

How do you make these icons? Or rather... in what do you make them?
