REQUEST- Updated TC images for orcish assassin/slayer

Post by Jetrel »

Eternal is still working on the young ogre, although if he wanted to make designs for this, I certainly wouldn't mind. Several other people could well remodel these sprites. These don't need to be a complete redraw/redesign, rather I'm looking for something more like the recent goblin overhaul.

Notes - Try and keep the unit semi-stealthy in appearance. He doesn't have any stealth abilities, but he should be on the low end of the "bling-o-meter".

A TC belt is a capital idea.

Sorry if this wastes everyone's time, but I saw there were no replies to this thread, so here's a quick try:

Interesting. Quite good for your work - in fact good enough, although I'd give it to further edits (this could be the new L1). It's cut and paste in a number of ways, but you did a pretty good job with it.

Thanks, man. :)

The cavalry has arrived.

That looks good - we've now got a new version of the assassin.

Yeah, is good.

And good job Flametrooper! Although your version didn't get in it's reallly quite easy job to create a unit based on a context that is already there. A lot easier than creating a unit from scratch.

(Just thought to give flametrooper a word of encouragement...)

It's not just that - even for masters, being able to bounce their work off each other tends to create an even better product. Different people see things that other people miss.

It ALMOST doesn't look different enough, since it appears to be the assasin flipped with a different weapon; however, I realize that with exessive bling forbidden, differentiation is slightly difficult. Considering that, you have done a good job. :D

I think the slayer should be darker-colored (a.k.a. more stealthy, or at least as stealthy as the assassin), and the bandana doesn't seem attached to his head.

This is just an idea, but what about TC in the bandana for one of them? I think it would create a greater difference between the two.

I've done some edits (in the interest of differentiation, and adding a subtle "secondary lighting" effect to the assassin's blade - one which isn't visible unless the unit is on terrain; see the attached demo.)

It's now time to move to animations for these fellows - the animations can actually borrow heavily from the previous sprites (at least for the slayer - the assassin, not so much). In any event, though - these fellows have very few frames, so this shouldn't be too hard. A single afternoon could get one of these done.

By the way guys - great work! :D

If you do, TC the L2.

I think the assassin looks great! I just tried the sprite out in-game. The slayer I still think is a bit too bright with highlighting, but I'll defer to Jetryl's artistic judgement on that.
