small 8-player map for review-my first

Post by Thrawn »

1. Sounding out support for small, many player maps (8-10). Sound like a good idea, I've gotten a few ideas, so.

2. How exactly do the map tags work?

3. Just a question about the map editor: does it pretty much just form a .cfg file with placing terrain merely a visual way to make it more interesting, or is it more complicated? ( I'm just curious, as it made making maps more interesting)

2: just type [map], then insert the map data, then [/map] and you are ready.

:) how should it work? Do you copy the .cfg file into [ map] [ /map] tags?

I wanted to show you the map BBcode and the forum software tried to make a map out of it, sorry. See my edited post now.

I don't really understand what you're trying to ask here. But in any case: the map editor doesn't create any .cfg's. It just creates text files that contain the rectangular block of letters that make up the map.

I was not sure but I think he means a startinddialog where you write name, id, description, etc. and the cfg file is automatically created.
Problem: Sides written in the cfg file. How do you create them?

Here is a map:

Code: Select all

gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggC2Cgggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggC1Cgggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
If you save that rectangle of letters into a text file, then you have a map.

If you save that text file in (userdata)/editor/maps then the game will recognize it and you can play on it.

It is possible to do the same thing with a .cfg file, but a .cfg file is NOT necessary unless you have a need to make an entire multiplayer scenario.

On the forum, the [ map ] tag lets you show the map to other forum users but it is not used in the game.

Here's that same map.

gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggC2Cgggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
gggC1Cgggg
gggggggggg
gggggggggg
[/map]
Hope springs eternal.

Are you insane!!? This map is so unbalanced! Player two has a huge advantage over player one, since his keep is more protected!! Plus no one can beat dwarves. :D

P.S. I am totally joking, so don't flame me please :)

8-player, really small map

50 gold, 2g/v, preferably no extremes of experience, and slightly bad for dwarves, but my first attempt :)
