Soldier of Steel

Iron Enforcer

Metal Goliath

(I think I should call the WWF with a few of these)

I "slaughtered" your image and made some mayor changes (I based them in your defend image)...
Desaturated the gold parts.. as only orcs just use large parts of golden/brass armour in the game. Added a few spikes here and there, changed the shield to a full metal one (as level 2 have) ...etc etc

Enforcer... I love that word. It doesn't mesh well with "Iron", sadly. Could we use it on its own? Are we wasting it on this unit?

Not minding the more saturated gold, I would say that Enforcer is fine for this guy. How about "Strong Enforcer", or "Armored Enforcer"?

'Enforcer' sounds kinda modern to me. Like a super-cop who 'enforces' the law.

All right, so that's a bit Dirty Harry, perhaps.

How about (Steel/Iron) Mauler?

The OED says that Thomas Lord Cromwell was called "the Mauler of Monasteries".

Another possibility

Another option from the iron theme is "ironside".

This was used as a nickname for King Edmund II, for Oliver Cromwell, and for cavalry units in the army of the latter.

Iron Mauler sounds good.

And fmunoz, much as I hate my image being completely reworked... I have to admit, your version does look more "shocktrooper" like, and downright evil to boot. Unless anyone disagrees with me, I'd be happy to go with that one.

How do you guys feel about "Lictor"? As in the bodyguards of Roman Generals?

I don't like much the spikes since they are rather useless practically speaking. The only spikes I saw on a real "old" armor were less than 1 cm long and only around the forearm to prevent enemies to grab the arm (and to slam them in the face if they are too close). But the main purpose of solid plate armor is to deflect hits and for that they have to be as smooth as possible such as blades and arrows slide over it if not perfectly adjusted. Armor were oiled before fight not only to protect from rust but also to help deflect enemies weapon. A spike is a weak point in an armor as it will guide a weapon toward the unit rather than away. And if you hit the spike with an heavy weapon, you will tear it away and make a hole in the armor...
Well, at least these spike are quite small and could be considered to be there for show and to impress enemies. I prefered a more goldy version too.

Unarmed though, apart from a bunch of sticks and sometimes an axe. No cool armor either. :-)

(I would be all for a nice set of culturally diverse Wesnoth-engine scenarios - ancient Rome, Aztec, Han China, etc. - but I think that'll take a while.)

Spikes are "just for show" here, no real human could handle a maul of that size with one hand either...
Wesnoth images are not "realism based" just done to be fun.
Each sides images should have something in common just be easily identified.. green elven outfits & tiaras/bandanas, gold and "flapping cloth stripes" for orcs, feathers, large kneecap/foot protections and raw metal armours for humans.. etc.. same for weapon/sword stiles, elves->sabres, humans->broad swords/rapiers, orcs->flachions and curved blades.
Speaking about it I should change the Gryphon rider clothes' colour to something more brownish...(when I did it I didnt knew that he was going to end with the Knalgans)

What about 'Squasher' / 'Steel squasher'?

'Maul master'?

not squasher...sounds very strange. :)

i like something with the word 'maul' in it, but maul master also sounds odd.
