I think the golden border around the "canvas" is too thick and bright. My eyes constantly get derailed to the border.

Also, a small suggestion. It would be nice to have separate space with to icons to represent the terrains that I have currently selected. This would be consistent with majority of painting software where the user can see the colors chosen for background and foreground.

I think you can see that in the center of your brush hex.

Will be in the final product.
But I thought more about using the "help" string system.

It displays large "tooltips" on the screen's floor like the preferences dialog.

New tileable artwork for status boxes

Updated terrain type icons (again), this time introducing the differenciation between "unwalkable" and "impassable" terrains.

It doesn't seem that anyone else is having this problem. However, when looking at this screenshot (posted in Creating multiplayer scenarios with the map editor by fabi), the new icons seem to me to be too bright and colorful. They consist of very bright, shiny blue and yellow colors, which conflict with the less shiny standard buttons. So, unless the ultimate plan is to overhaul those as well, I imagine toning down the colors on the new icons would tie the interface more together.

"Those" refers to the buttons "Scroll To", "Close" and "More >"?

No, I was referring to the menu- and dialog buttons (such as "File", "Map", ... and "Scroll To", "Close").

I think the problem is the buttons in the topbar (File, Menu, etc) are new, while the buttons in the status dialog are old. I think the new ones look fine.

Oh, I see. I only glanced over the menu bar and thought it would look just the same as the dialog. What I meant, was that the items of the toolbox left of and beneath the map (especially those with big areas, like the house icon) are very bright and shiny, and the menu buttons not so much.

Hey everyone.
I'm not dead yet, just very busy. Shadowm requested a couple of fixes on some of the button artwork, so there they are.

Edit : meh, wrong thread. This belongs in the UI facelift one. Nevermind.
