Re: Bfw logo French
It would be nice to have a French logo for the 1.10.1 version, no?
If any change is needed, it can take some time and I suppose that the 1.10.1 version will be release soon. So, please, tell us if this logo is correct.
Thank you,
The French translation maintainer.

Re: Bfw logo French
It looks good, and the translation is correct. Not sure if it's grammatically correct in French. You might want to use a smaller text size, because the name is longer in French.
Re: Bfw logo French
I don’t think there are any technical limitations against wider logos, but in general people should make sure it works on the titlescreen using 800x480, 800x600 and 1024x768 resolution.Flameslash wrote:You might want to use a smaller text size, because the name is longer in French.
To start Wesnoth with a specific resolution in windowed mode, just pass
--windowed --resolution 800x480
in the command line, replacing 800x480 as necessary.Author of the unofficial UtBS sequels Invasion from the Unknown and After the Storm.
Re: Bfw logo French
I put the logo in data/core/images/misc/ but when I start wesnoth, the English logo is used. I try with --nocache option but it is the same problem. So, how can I test?
However, in the wiki, I found this:

And the French logo size is : 520x201 so, normally it must work.Note in order to make sure the logo fits properly in the title screen it shall not be larger as 550x250.

I just tested the various resolutions.
The logo seems to behave correctly.
Cordially.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseline_(typography)
Move the baseline of the second line of text down approximate 1/2 to 1/3 of the x-height of this font. If you look at the english logo, it's nicely centered on the shield - yours isn't.
Otherwise this is great.

Jetrel, do you think the baseline is good now? Can I send the logo to Espreon?
Re: Bfw logo French

Re: Bfw logo French

But thank you for your comments.
Do not hesitate to do so.

As it currently stands, it's good enough to commit.
It might look slightly nicer if you could finesse the kerning and individual letter widths so that 1] the "ou" in "pour" is perfectly centered on the horizontal midline, and yet 2] preserve how the logo is currently balanced with an equal width across both left and right sides of the midline.
This would mean manually changing the size of each individual letter. This sounds like, and is a lot of fiddly, fastidious work; it's the kind of thing that's only ever merited for stuff like logos and titles. But for logos and titles, it can make them look very crisp and neat.

Nicely done! I think the first one is slightly better, but both of them are well-done.
