It looks great! You did the fur just fine. I hope this can get added in 1.8.

@Issyl: This is just a gif demo. The cfg file will set the timings.

Uploaded animation speeds 200 and 100 respectively. It looks as if I have not perfectly centered the Giant Rat in the frame. I will work on fixing that...

:EDIT:

I fixed the centering of the frame problem. See attached.

Sorry for a quick nitpick (this looks incredibly awesome), but the tail looks like it needs more definition during the animation. I understand that it won't be too much of a problem, as animations play so quickly, but the drop in quality/3-D look of the tail from the superb base frame is apparent to even my novice eye, and runs throughout the rest of the animation.

this goes for they're/their/there as well

I agree with Thrawn. The tail definitely needs some definition. The color levels I was using before were not sufficient to give proper contrast. Attached to this post is an updated Giant Rat with changes made to the tail and shadows. Can you see any more improvements that I can make?

I'm certainly not an artist, but from an objective standpoint the animation frames could use some length adjustments. As it is now the rat seems to be stop-motion rather than a fluid animation. The focus should be more on the leap into the air, and not the charge up beforehand.

Otherwise the frames themselves look great, good work!

This is a problem with .gif animations; while you can adjust the length of time for which each frame is displayed in Wesnoth, with a .gif each frame must be displayed for the same length of time. With a few timing tweaks, this should look pretty good in-game. Nice work, Stern!

Actually, that's not strictly true. But we'll gloss oveer that, since these problems are easily worked out by putting the animation in-game. We'll add this chap soon, but i'll need to discuss with Ivanovic exactly how and where - i'd like to put him into mainline, rather thn just DiD, so that other authors can use him, but that would involve a string change, so I'd have to check whether that would be allowed now, or would have to wait until 1.8/9. However, it shouldn't be a problem to put these into DiD, and it will be excellent to be able to.

Great work.

This change would break basically two freezes:
1) The stringfreeze since in "mainline" new strings will suddenly be available
2) The featurefreeze since a new unit is available for all of mainline.

In general I'd say add it to DiD if it does not change and string or introduce any new strings there. Move the unit to (general) mainline for the 1.9 series.

That was more or less what I was expecting. Thanks for the clarification.

In fact you summoned boucman who currently sits two chairs left of me, who just used his special ability "talk to release manager in person". For a correct summon of the release manager you probably used the wrong kind of goat or something along those lines. Maybe the virgin you used was not fresh enough? ;)

It could probably be done with textdomain trickery, but that would be ugly. (and allow a fully translated mainline to have untranslated strings if DiD isn't fully translated)

I am really excited about my work getting put into the campaign and mainline! Thankyou so much. Right now I am working on the last of the defense animation frames. My idea for the first frame was that the Giant Rat would cover up his eyes before getting hit (which is attached to this post). I still need to figure out the the second and final frame in which the Giant Rat is the actually impacted. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This could be the second frame. The first could be with rat just crouching.

QFT. Do this. Hopefully, it should be OK to do the eye-covering thing, but going straight into it without any tweening will probably be too big of a jump.
