First one: Color improvement. Scale design improvement, not so much. The old one was a bit better. The fin still looks weird.woodmouse wrote:Hmm, I don't know if this is any better, but well.
Also, a "dead" version of it like you suggested.
Second one: The walking corpses are simply not that green. More of a desaturated gray-blue, with some bits that are just slightly brownish? I dunno.
@Zarel: I kinda like that. Maybe you could find fmunoz and get a collab going.
Re: New attack icon topic
I redid the whole fin. (I know it looks horrible, but I try to make it better, lol)
And swimming corpse tail:
EDIT:
Is this better?
EDIT2:
A water splash.
I don't know if it's an improvement of the old one, but... Well.

Well, here's the PSD, if anyone wants to continue: (Zipped because the forum doesn't allow PSD files.)Zerovirus wrote:@Zarel: I kinda like that. Maybe you could find fmunoz and get a collab going.
Oh, and, that reminds me: Currently, the staff for Mermaids and human mages is this:
which looks a bit too much like a spear to me. Why not one of these?

Re: New attack icon topic
It does allow us to upload PSDs file... I have no idea why you couldn't.
EDIT: you seem to define "can't upload" as "doesn't display after uploading and submitting the post"; the .psd format was misconfigured as an image format, hence, the forum was trying to tell your browser to display it, which of course it couldn't. Now .psd's and .xcf's have their own category to fix this.

You really should try to use larger images and then resize after finishing.
Working with a resolution x3 or x4 larger is a good choice.
I tried to copy some of your work on scales and tailend.

I was pixel-editing woodmouse's version, so I didn't do it 3x like I otherwise would.fmunoz wrote:You really should try to use larger images and then resize after finishing.

In general, yours looks better than mine, but a few areas for improvement: Scales look like they'd look better if they were shinier (give them a "wet" feel, especially if you plan on having water effects in the final version), and the whole thing might look more realistic with a bit of hue variation like mine does (i.e. greenish in some areas). It also looks like it should be thicker, but that just might be personal preference.fmunoz wrote:I tried to copy some of your work on scales and tailend.
I can't collab much with an XCF, unfortunately. Apparently there are no Photoshop plugins that can import XCF files. I'll learn Gimp one day, but today is not that day.

Sure you can. Load it with gimp and save as *.psd. (If you are going to learn gimp someday, installing it is the first step.)Zarel wrote:I can't collab much with an XCF, unfortunately.

Quiet, you. <_< That was just an excuse because I don't have time to work on it tonight.beetlenaut wrote:Sure you can. Load it with gimp and save as *.psd. (If you are going to learn gimp someday, installing it is the first step.)

Re: New attack icon topic
The merfolk tails are looking nice; I assume this is for some UMC thing, because merfolk don't have a tail attack in mainline; I'm curious to know what it is?
@Woodmouse: we're not redoing the water-splash. You'd have to do something pretty incredible to get us to consider it.
Also, I'd like to request a custom icon for the saurian staves. Should look voodoo/witch-doctorish. There's even room for a separate staff for the saurian oracle, if someone's interested. Oracle one is much more metallic/geometric.

The Brawlers do in Dead Waters, which is going mainline.Jetrel wrote: The merfolk tails are looking nice; I assume this is for some UMC thing, because merfolk don't have a tail attack in mainline; I'm curious to know what it is?

Re: New attack icon topic
Merman Brawler:
* fist: 5-4
* tail: 9-2 impact, stun
@fmunoz/Zarel: That tail looks good enough to commit as far as I'm concerned. Let me know when you consider it done, and I'll add it.
Do either of you want to do the brawler's fist? I'm using a recolored human fist for now. It doesn't need to be completely redrawn, but it should at least have webbing between the fingers, and I couldn't get that to look right.

Undead trample icon (Liberty uses those).
Beetlenaut you can use the tail icon unless Zarel gives you a newer one, my attemps for water splashs were worse than the one posted.

Re: New attack icon topic
I dunno. Your tail icon still looks a bit too "cartoony" compared to other attack icons.fmunoz wrote:Beetlenaut you can use the tail icon unless Zarel gives you a newer one, my attemps for water splashs were worse than the one posted.
Could you respond to this?
Side by side:In general, yours looks better than mine, but a few areas for improvement: Scales look like they'd look better if they were shinier (give them a "wet" feel, especially if you plan on having water effects in the final version), and the whole thing might look more realistic with a bit of hue variation like mine does (i.e. greenish in some areas). ...I guess yours is a bit better, but it still looks like it could use some improvement. :/

Re: New attack icon topic
Is this good? I thought I'd add some shells to it so it looked better, but I dunno if that was a too creative step to do...
EDIT:
Betterings to the undead tail... I dunno if the shells fit this either...

Anyway, you guys are great at this stuff. I'm glad that drakes are getting some attention (just giving some awful motivation)
