The Dwarf Lord (what this characters sprite is) has throwing hatchets with an icon similar to what I have drawn. Otherwise, it just looks cool which I am not above doing. If Jetrel or TSI want me to get rid of them then I will, however I ask you all just roll with it.

As for the hair, I may play around with it and see what I come up with. It's not something I'm necessarily attached to. I was simply going for a samurai type feel in some respects.

I'll say it again. Horned beard. And horned hair, though I'm not sure how you'd pull that off.

I'm really start to wonder why everybody are so interested in Dwarf hair...

I think the shape and size of the axes is ok, but I don't understand how they poke out like that. Does he have a quiver for them or something?

Well what I guess people dislike about the hatchets is the fact that AFAIK throwing hatchets look something like this, thus they would have to be fixed somewhere pretty high on his back, which is just...unusual. Your hatchets give the feeling of a much longer handle strapped somewhere around mid of his torso - something like a "valaska".This isn't a critique, just pointing out what is the possible problem with the hatchets - if you want to give the impression of a quite long handle, it's OK, if not then it might look unnatural and uncomfortable.
You are an Orcish Grunt: cheap, powerful, but effective.

First off, thanks again for all the interest you guys are taking. I'm sorry there are no real updates today. I had some minor surgery (nothing serious) done and just wasn't able to focus enough to finish up the dwarf. Will probably do that tomorrow.

The axes seem to be a big focus of debate here, and the rule of cool doesn't appear to be making its way on the agenda. I'll just move the axe heads closer to his shoulder and hope for the best I suppose, as they make his silhouette much more interesting.

If all else fails, I'll take another pain killer and pretend you all love my disney looking dwarf. He loves you guys!

I don't find your Hamel particulary dwarvish in anatomy. He looks to me more like a human with shortish arms. Dwarves should be distinguished with wide shoulders, broad chest, short neck (or rather, hardly any neck at all) and longish arms (in relation to their short stature). Also, your Hamel's hands are rather small, considering he's wearing gauntlets.

In addition, wearing plate mail on naked skin looks uncomfortable.

I have conferred with the campaign maintainer and he is pretty happy with how Hamel looks, so not going to redesign his anatomy at this point. You could have a point about the platemail. I'll continue and see what looks more bad@$$.

you might want to send this to the maintainer(if there is) of dwarven kingdom. They have a hamel in there too, which could benefit from your portrait(just a suggestion).

Up next, Elyssa the elven princess! I'm thinking a full platemail bikini and a skeleton for a head.

"Full platemail bikini" - I loled.

Thank goodness Wesnoth doesn't do that cliche female armor thing!

I wouldn't put it past this artist. :hmm: He usually makes good on his threats.

(joking! I really like this guys armor, but wish you'd kept a tiny bit of the "mom" tat as an inside joke.)

The pose looks weird, like her upper torso is bent toward the viewer, but the rest of her isn't.
