Re: Items
I'd say not, really - look at similar items - they tend to be seen from the same perspective as units, where this is seen from directly above. Size-wise, it could do with being as small as possible whilst still being recognisable. You could get away with maybe half the size, at least. Colour-wise it's OK, but it looks more like gold than anything else - unless that's what you were intending, use less yellow.

Re: Items
What other kind of attack icons need doing out of curiosity? It seems like it would be a fun aside to try my hand at some time.

Re: Items
Beetlenaut's could use a little more AA, maybe, but is otherwise good. With a touch of that, it'll be ready to go.
This is about as small as you can get whilst still having stuff remain readable. It should be this big, this is normal for videogames, and it's considered symbolic/iconic rather than literal.

A protruding decoration. It's a good thing.Looks good. But what is the thing on the circle facing north-east?

Re: Items
I was under the impression that anti-aliasing was discouraged--or at least considered unnecessary--so I had tried to do without it.
It's smoother now.
Edit: I decided that I agreed that it looked a little bent, but I think this takes care of it.

Ooo! It's nice!
beetlenaut, may I use it? I have been using own image, but mine is not good as yours. (attachment)

EDIT: Thanks beetlenaut (below). I will put your name on info.txt file.
Another Edit: Actually, on the credit list in contribution section (on the main file).

Re: Items
Ok, so I tried adding a more visible indoors... (there is something going on with the door-frame disappearing, but other than that I think it works pretty well). Comments?
WRT Jetryls comment: what does AA mean?

As for the key, I see now that you all where right (ofc) I like the one presented here (although it looks a bit bent), but I think I will give it a second try too WRT Jetryls comment: what does AA mean?

Re: Items
Beetlenaut, semitransparent pixels are Evil and should be avoided whenever possible, and here it is possible; also your contours are far too strong - shading should always take precedence, and contours should follow.
EDIT: touchup on the altars
EDIT: also, why are the altars & many other scenery-like pictures under Items instead of Scenery? The intuitive difference is that you can pick up items, but not scenery.

Re: Items
Blarumyrran's key is better, and the altars should obviously go in, too.
Edit: Committed, but without any .cfg file work, and without the halos.
I don't know how those work, and don't have time atm.

Re: Items
I didn't use any at first, and then Jetryl said it needed antialiasing. I thought that he meant around the edges, which would kind of have to be semitransparent. I also thought everything was supposed to have a one pixel outline but that's apparently not the case. I guess I'm just not sure what the art requirements are (which is partly why everything I do gets redrawn).Blarumyrran wrote:Beetlenaut, semitransparent pixels are Evil and should be avoided whenever possible
