I didn't find any anvils for wesnoth, so I made my own.
Everyone is free to use it, for whatever purpose (also outside wesnoth).
This is still work-in progress.
I did the outlines and a colored version.
But am not very good with shadows yet.

Re: Anvil
Looks like a promising start. Give the shading a try =) Make sure you look for some reference for colours, highlights etc.

Re: Anvil
Nice though you might want to anti-aliase the lines. Also on a side note, as far as wesnoth goes, sprites never usually have pure black lines, they are often very dark coloured ones.idanwin wrote:I didn't find any anvils for wesnoth, so I made my own.

Re: Anvil
I know that, but that's going to be one of the next steps.
Re: Anvil
I tried to shade it a bit.

Re: Anvil
Think where the light source is, then make the nearer parts lighter and the further away parts darker.
Re: Anvil
Great effort so far, but my only thought is that some of the lines are very dark while some are very light but there does not seem to be any correlation as to which is which. The very dark line goes all of the way around the anvil yet stops and does not cover the back part of the top for example.

Re: Anvil
I made all outside lines the same color, and left all inside lines untouched.
Better?

Re: Anvil
INdeed. NOw you need some more contrast, and some nice shiny highlights to make it really look like metal.
And to give it a shadow which, to match the rest of the terrain, should be cast on the upper left side of the object.

Re: Anvil
It doesn't really need high contrast (I'm not saying it can't be improved), most anvils are fairly dull (am I using this word right?).
Added a shadow (probably the wrong one...)

Re: Anvil
Most are fairly dull, yes, but you need more than what you've got there - currently there's very little distinction between the shaded parts and the lit parts. You sometimes have to exaggerate the values somewhat with sprites - otherwise they just blend together a bit.
And yeah, that shadow looks good =)
