Re: Outlaws! New: Male Outlaw/Fugitive!
great job kitty, you've outdone yourself yet again...
just a small crit... I have trouble "reading" the way th hood lies on his back.
it's hare to explain, but I have the feeling the hood is "twisted" in a way that would not stay in place
i.e the hood would not stay in its current position
it might just be my reading, but I thought it was worth pointing out...
EDIT: while looking at your drawing again, it seems that he has both a cape and a hood, which I read as a single clothing item.
maybe changing the colors/shading again so they are more distinct might help

Ok, I took boucman's crit into consideration too and changed a few things about the cloak (and attatched it to my post on the last page). But that's it for him, please commit him.
I won't have time to work on anything wesnoth related (or comment on other stuff) for the next few days, I'll be back tuesday.

Re: Outlaws! New: Ruffian
Looks appropriately teenaged. Nice work. I really like that facial hair. The only issue is that the free end of his belt doesn't seem to end... it's not tucked in anywhere, nor does it have any loops to tuck into.

Re: Outlaws! New: Ruffian
Thanks for the pointer with the belt! I had some loops holding it in place in the sketch but missed them while inking. Will fix tomorrow.

Re: Outlaws! New: Ruffian
The shading on the top of the knuckles of his left hand looks a little dark to me, and his shirt could use some form shading, it looks kind of flat at present.
Otherwise, looks good.

Re: Outlaws! New: Ruffian
Little edits on the Ruffian's shading per tsi's suggestions, he's finished now.
And some prelim. lines and flats for the thug. I wanted to keep the hairstyle from Lute's original portrait as kind of a hommage but now I tend to think that it looks too well-behaved, hmm - I'll have another look at that tomorrow.

Re: Outlaws! New: Thug
If you add a few knots here and there and make it look dirty... who knows, it might look great after all. What I'd me more concerned about is the pose - he's standing in a very upright position, and combined with the facial features and expression, it makes him look like a model, rather than a heartless road-side bandit. The ruffian's looking awesome, though, great work with the hair/beard-style.kitty wrote:but now I tend to think that it looks too well-behaved, hmm - I'll have another look at that tomorrow.
For the dark gods!
Re: Outlaws! New: Thug
Thanks for your impression! I somehow imagined thugs as the bragging type, boasting how many little kids they've beat up etc. - that's why I chose a posing pose. I don't want to change the essential pose but I'll try some things with his facial features and expression in order to make him more mean and heartless when I continue working on him (probably tomorrow).Girgistian wrote:What I'd me more concerned about is the pose - he's standing in a very upright position, and combined with the facial features and expression, it makes him look like a model, rather than a heartless road-side bandit.

Re: Outlaws! New: Thug
Anatomically, the Thug looks a little off to me - his head and shoulders look kind of small, and his trunk looks very narrow, compared with the size of his arms. I agree with giving him a bulky physique, but I don't think you've got it quite right here.

Re: Outlaws! New: Thug
These all look great. Maybe moving the thug's right hand to his belt would make him look more casual and less posing without needing to redraw much?
