I know these will be used for dialogue, but have you given any thought to making the wolf look a bit more aggressive kitty? As mentioned above, they may be trained but I highly doubt they are tame, and so a bit more feral expression would not be out of place.

I know that goblins are not large beings, but the pillager's shoulder breadth seems too narrow to me, and the one on our left may be a little low.

Turuk: No, for exactly the reason you mentioned yourself. That's a dialogue not a fighting portrait. Besides the Rider's wolf is already snarling and the knight's/direwolf rider's one will probably as well - I don't want the same "expression" for all three wolves.

A-Red:
I want him to be weakish but I may have overdone it. I will broaden his shoulders a bit in the next revision, but I still want the knight-line to feature the more impressive goblins. For the different shoulder height please notice the differently shaped and sized pauldrons, I think shading will clear that up more.

I had noticed, but I think the large pauldron on our right is as high as his shoulder should actually be. Block it out with a finger, and look at his head and the shoulder on our left, and see how long his neck is.

In my opinion, the Pillager wolf is not cute enough.

I think the wolf's expression and bearing makes the wolf seem like it's still a little apprehensive of the fire it's rider is carrying. Fitting, i think.

Preliminary fin version of the pillager, but if anybody raises a valid crit I'm of course willing to include it.

Edit: Damn, I forgot to shade the torch - will come back to that later this evening...

A-Red: You were right - I completely overlooked that - thanks!
Eternal: :lol2: That's just great!
Neoskel: Exactly what I thought.

Depends on the lighting you want to convey, but personally it doesn't feel like the torch is actually included in the image - normally when you do lighting effects you do a lot of reflections from the surfaces nearby - you don't seem to have done so on this one, and it make the torch look a little disconnected.

I feel that the Direwolf ought to be properly aggressive-looking and snarly. At the moment, particularly given the angle of its head, it looks docile, if not outright scared.

Also, he seems to have a stirrup, but his foot's not in it - is there a reason for this?

Otherwise, looks good =)

Yeah, canine expressions aren't something I usually do - I'll have another look at his head. For the foot dangling besides the stirrup I imagined him loosening up during talking opposed to riding.

Ah, OK. It's worth bearing in mind, however, that he could be (and given the speed of the unit, is quite likely to be) depicted talking whilst moving, so...
