Wonderful. Look forward to seeing it in-game.

Also, stone bridges would be neat.

Yes this new bridges are really nice and should be added on to be used with overlay (on any type of bridgeable terrain). A stone bridge would be great too, but please with less pilar such as it can ber used over canyons.

I have something. For the diagonal ones, the post locations don't line up with each other, that is if you draw a line between corresponding poles, it wouldn't be perpindicular to the flat part. Is that by design?[/i]

Yeah, it's on purpose. I've chosen to line up the posts with the diagonal edges of the hexes. I don't think a right angle quite works for that, if the bridge is going to connect to the next bridge hex. I've also made the bridges "irregular" So they can blend with various perspectives better.

Could you post your bridges, but as a separate layer? That is, without the water layer?

Bridges separated from water would allow them to be drawn over the terrain-to-water transition, and thus to have nice bridge ends. The following (quick & dirty) mockup should explain what I mean:

Sweet! That bit on land is a transition, right?
How would it work if the bridge ended next to a castle?
(don't have access to my files at the moment.)

Badly. But map designers may just avoid doing a bridge going out of a castle :)

Maybe a special bridge-to-castle transitions should be drawn.

Would be cool to have the bridge end in a castle gate in this case, but it might look a bit weird because of the scale of the castle vs the bridge.

would it work to draw the tile, the bridge, the bridge transition, and drawing the castle last, on top of everything ?

I mean lots of medieval castles were surounded by water, with a bridge in front of the main entrance... it would be a shame not being able to do that in wesnoth...

Bridge tiles separated from background:
here are 3 bridges and 6 (quick) bridge transitions.

I'd be happy to refine them once the pieces show up correctly in-game.
