Trolls portraits

Post by nehuen »

hi to all

i'ven working in another troll portrait, this time the troll whelp.

Before I can start with the color and the lines, I would like to know if something has to be changed in the base portrait, or I can start working on it.

This troll has a body, unlike my last one

tell me what you think

It looks more like a Troll hunchback rather than a Whelp. But its a good start.

The anatomy looks pretty good to me, and you've got the troll look down well.

But, i think this looks a little too developed to be a youth - it looks like an adult crouched down, rather than a young troll. Narrower shoulders, and a larger head in relation to the body, should help with this.

Its left ear should also not be quite so visible from this angle - for that much of the ear to be visible, it would need to point slightly forward from the head, rather than slightly back as the other does.

NIce work =)

The general look is good, but I think the pose is not exactly right for a knuckle-walk, the shoulders should be higher and the elbows pointing forward. You can use a gorilla for a reference (I don't mean that you should copy the position exactly, but observe how the arms and shoulders are positioned).

ETA: his speedo could also be more discreetly coloured. :)

Much younger, but still brutish. Nice work. Maybe the torso could do with being a little shorter, though.

If you take a gorilla as reference than the articular of the hind legs would stand out.

the legs are in that way because when the troll becomes an adult he has to walk in 2 legs, like a human, and if he had the gorila-like legs he will never walk in 2 legs... Thats my idea...

I'd suggest that the legs would grow as the troll gets older - after all, if a human baby's physique remained the same, it would never walk upon reaching adulthood...

well, this troll is a young troll, not a baby, so he is just in the middle of the change

anothe question: do you think he have to have a bit more stupid face? he is young and unexperienced, so I think that the face should reflect that.

Please excuse the english, if you dont understand me, let me know.

I think the face is about right - it looks younger than the current troll faces we've seen in portraits so far, sue to it being shorter and wider. Possibly bigger eyes would enhance the youthful look, too. I don't think it needs to look any stupider, though.

Looks like an improvement to me. Nice!

So legs are better now, I have some proposal for improvement of the face:
I think a young troll shouldn't have such a severe facial expression.
It should be more inexperienced. The young troll hasn't seen the world outside yet. imho
I don't see any problems with an elf-woman hitting somebody with a mace...
