Cockatrice
Is it even used anymore?
Well here's a proposal for renewal in any case.
It lacks wings... although it looks rather nice even without them... and it might needs some tweaks i can't make out.
... And the tail... of course! Please comment on all else.

- It looks more like a big, scary chicken now.

I wish I had more time in my hands.
I've always imagined those things to be rather small creatures since they don't have a melee attack at all, but this one looks huge. And yeah, it looks a bit like a giant chicken, whereas I'd think a cockatrice would be a bit more unusual looking (personally I think a thick tail, like a lizard's tail except feather-covered, would be neat). Technically and quality-wise it's really nice. I don't think it needs wings at all.
Quite nice, but a bit big-chicken like. It should look a little more like an invented creature.
But I think the only scenarion they were used in has been deleted.

This explains why it's got no melee attack, the two heads can't decide which one should bite.

the transition from feathers to snake-tail looks bad, needs to blend more. If I remember from somewhere, the original cockatrice was actually a large chicken, but a bit more gruesome looking since its parents were a dragon and a hen I think. Maybe make it smaller and more scrappy? If all else fails, the generic snake body with feathers, chicken feet and head will do. Don't know if it's used anymore, but the sprite definately needs to be replaced.

Re: Size: It does not *need* to follow conventions...
In the scenario, cockatrices are the result of arcane experimentation, yes?
Would it be possible to randomly use more than one graphic for the same unit - say, all of the ones in this thread?

I like Eternal's or Zookeeper's, but the others have too much of a mismatch between parts for my taste. I don't like monsters that look like someone just took a piece of one creature and glued it right onto something else without any concern for how it looks. (This is in reference to the appearance of the creature itself with that ridiculous green tail, not a complaint against frankensteined units.)
