Huh? Why? It makes it more interesting to have some water units, some fliers.

Because thinking water units that are based on semi-reality ends up with uncommon results, and in comparison with soft-fantasy flyers/spirits (since they wouldn't be very serious and/or wouldn't play very large roles in the background), makes me drift towards semi-fantasy flyers.

Also, expensive scouting, flanking capabilities, and a general drift towards fantasy, which i think is more wesnothian than having guys on pots and tribesmen on hippos, IMO.
Exactly. I still prefer the less human suggestion though.

You're reasoning makes no sense to me. Sorry. ;)

(BTW, the Marauders will probably ALSO get a flying, Valkyrie-like female mage. But the boatsman is staying.)

Between:

- Units that are/may be realistic, although slighty stretched.
- Units that don't try to be realistic, although they don't necessarily seem out of place.

I choose the second. Basically, i prefer things like the Sidhe Ancestor to Hippo Riders and Coracles.

Hehe, so much for "do NOT discuss the idea behind the unit."

I agree with Cuyo, but only to a point.

I thought the whole thing of marauders was that they didn't dabble in magic?

Yes, this is all to do with storyline etc, but they end up learning magic off the Frost Elves.
