Illegal character: could not load map (HELP)

Post by Hellrider »

Hello all, I am using Wesnoth 0.9.3 on OS X 10.4.. I was trying to create a map and so i opened the editor in the game.. After I've saved my map (exported from the editor as WML map file) I installed it in the game, but when i tried to load it in order to create a game, i got an error (the one in topic). I've already searched the forums for similar posts but i couldn't find any useful advice, so i post below the code of my map.. I hope someone can help me find the bug  Thanks!

The eror means, that there's a letter on your map, that has no terrain attached to it.
for example: Ä hasn't got a terrain attached to it and therefore it's an illegal character.
me: Welcome to the real world. If everyone says your art and opinions suck, it's because they DO suck. Even if you're too damned proud/stupid/both to realize it.
danny_california: yep keep telling fairy tales.

Thank you for the quick reply, now i know what it means

Anyway it doesn't seem to me that this map has any illegal 'letter'..
Is there a way to know which letter is 'legal' or not?

EDIT: maybe those 4 '/' near the center of the map?

Thank you very much! :D

EDIT: I just found the 'bug'

All those 'y' letters (which should be castle for the editor) are 'reserved' hexes and as martenzo said hexes without a terrain associated at it, so illegal characters.. Replacing them with 'C' did the trick and now in fact it works! Thanks again!
