Re: Best two units, the tournament
imo, the tournament is pretty much fun.
the game versus mint was nice, he played well, i didnt and lost.
due to some luck it didnt look too bad in the beginning for me though.
(although i think i was maybe already doomed when i retreated early and let him take 2 villages)
anyways, i look forward to the next game.

Re: Best two units, the tournament
I'd be willing to take over for ZhuQ, would I have to use his units, or can I choose my own?
Warning: I don't get to play a lot, so I might not be to great for this.

You can choose your own units of courseuncleshelby wrote:I'd be willing to take over for ZhuQ, would I have to use his units, or can I choose my own?
And it does not matter if you're doing well or not, because this tournament is mainly for fun

Re: Best two units, the tournament
Hello all! Unfortunately, I do not know when I will be able to play my next tourney game. I travel and work a lot (upon other things), so even getting a full, tourney qualifying game is difficult. To avoid any further complications that may arise from my long absences, I would like to hereby and henceforth resign from the tournament. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that none of you hold this against me. For, truly enough, reality does come first.
Thanks to all for understanding, and have a good tournament

Re: Best two units, the tournament
In my game with Haart, he noticed that my income was 2 higher than it was supposed to be. I examined another replay of the same map (alaskanavenger vs. uncleshelby on the freelands) and noticed the same thing. It seems to be a bug in the era. I examined the .cfg file, but my limited knowledge of WML didn't show me immediately any problem.
Re: Best two units, the tournament
When reloading a game with Alexanderthegre (on Freelands, in case if that matters) that we started yesterday, we noticed what seems to be a bug in a tournament era: even through we started with normal settings, Alex in fact had +2 bonus to income. We tried to create new games with tournament era first on Freelands and then on Weldyn Cnannel and observed the same effect: south player had a +2 income advantage. Single-player tests made by me confirmed that this is the case on both default and PYR-adapted versions of Freelands and Weldyn Channel (and possibly on some other maps which i'm too lazy to test right now; however, i did not observe that effect on PYR-Sablestone when testing in singleplayer). Moreover, i think that this effect is present in at least some tournament replays i have.
Therefore, i ask someone else to test this out. If this unfortunate bug will be confirmed to be inherent to used era, version or maps (as opposed to my own version of Wesnoth which may have somehow got damaged, althrough i have no idea how that could happen), it will render a lot of already played tournament games invalid.
P. S. I also ask to forgive me for not being avaiable to play for more than two weeks. I had to graduate the university (and it involved a lot of hurried work) shortly before the New Year and then holidays kicked in.

Re: Best two units, the tournament
well no need to replay the ones where the looser had that advantage.
Re: Best two units, the tournament
Isn't it because south player controls one village from the start?Haart wrote:south player had a +2 income advantage.
Re: Best two units, the tournament
Nope, i checked; it's on top of that (on the beginning of second turn northern player has total income of 2 where 2 is base and none from villages while southern player has income of 6 where 2 is from village and 4 shows as base). And, like i already said (i think), it shows up as "income +2" when you reload saved game on server; i doubt village would have that effect.
I still wait for someone to run tests on some other machine than mine to verify it.
