About the mapchoice:

As I sidenote I should mention that I didn't want to play the first three maps choosen by RMP (because I already played on them once - I know rules say I might play them twice, but I really want to play a different map each game), he didn't want to play my favoured map and the fourth choosen by RMP (which were the same). So Aethermaw was the first map we both agreed on.

My very personal thoughts:

It was the worst game in the whole tourny. My game against Honor was sad, because it was basically decided by me being really lucky and killing all of his units in one turn. But this game was even worse. Not because I was lucky, but because Cackfiend left the game without even loosing a single unit or village. I guess he didn't like the map, because first night rushes are impossible, well I don't know for sure. But he just wrote "gg" and left the game instantly, leaving me with a "what the [censored] just happened here". But it is a tourny and therefore I have to take him seriously.

I guess a win is a win, no matter how you got it.

Horus with knalgans lose vs thefish with drakes on silverhead cross, horus went heavy on gryphons and he started to lose them early in the game , the next day drakes rushed with everything left standing.

thefish and Horus; you realise you only play each other once in the initial group stages?

The Liminal Khalifate in csarmi's previous post are now on the add-on server under the title Temporary Khalifate. For the moment it is mandatory to use this era for the tournament. This decision may be revisited particularly after the group stages if it is demonstrated that there is a problem with one of the match ups.

Regarding Aethermaw; Doc won't be pleased to hear that . I quite like the map and I feel first night attack are possible but probably difficult if you haven't played the map before. I'd suggest looking up some of the replays in KoTF tournament before passing judgement on it after one game.

szdik570 (Rebels) vs peace (Northerners) on Caves of the Basilisk has just been finished.

Spoiler:

I won. My orcs rushed elves for 31 turns without notable success. Elves slowly level up as orcs hold slightly more villages. At turn 27 an unlucky hero failed to level and died. This crushed the elvish morale. The remaining scattered elves were smashed in only four turns.

After much toughts about it(much much thinking...), elido steps back, and gives the point to dreadnough

Here is the game as far as we played it. Unfortunatally the replay always crashes for me, but maybe you have more luck.

Let my tell you that this was the best match in the whole tournament (at least from the games I played so far). There were a lot of Bats and Falcons arround to steal villages, a lot of units were killed on both sides and every possible unit got recruited more than once. All in all a great game.

It's not a matter of luck. 1.9.9. is bugged. I did do a bugfix for win7 so I can load it myself.

Update for Khalifate. Noy says the idea is to make some of the Khalifate units liminal based on theme (and the rest should stay lawful).

He says they would come out with that version eventually, but it is not ready yet. For now, the best should be to play them as lawful, as that's the best guess on how they feel.

I defeated Horus. He was too bold at night with only one footpad, and got his units killed repeatedly, although I suffered heavy losses as well. Soon I had a leveled ghost and a leveled DA, and could kill things very efficiently. He then put everything he had into an assault on my right, including his leader. I started stealing villages in his rear with a bat, and fought him at night in my home turf. Once again I suffered disastrous losses, but he lost more, and would have had difficulty getting home if he hadn't surrendered once his all-in assault failed.
