Honor vs. Faello on Fallenstar Lake!

My blaze of Glory as Undead Legion charged at Loyalists commanded by the WM Faello. Will the Light prevail or will Darkness consume all?

1.9.10. out

Our old replays won't work because footpad ranged attack has been changed.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand:

* Unit changes and Balancing
* All mounted units now have forest defense capped at 30%. This reduces their
defense on forested hills from 40% to 30%
* Forests now give best defense and worst movement on all terrain,
not just hills - fixes bug #18216.
* The XP required for an AMLA is now 50*level (and 25 for level 0) instead of
always 150.
* Increased the HP of the Great Mage from 55 to 60.
* Increased the ranged attack of the Footpad from 4-2 to 5-2.
* Removal of the Khalifate units, faction and era.

Does the removal of Khalifate units, faction and era cause us problems?

* User interface:
* Removed waypoints UI feature ('w' key) since the whiteboard provides
similar functionality.
* Added option in advanced preferences that allows the twelve-hour clock
format to be used.
* Reenabled "delay shroud updates".
* Slowed units are now tinted to be recognizable at a glance.

Because it won't be ready by the release of 1.10 and it is a release candidate for 1.10 (at least this is what i think).

I suppose TBS can come oout with a Khalifate addon?

Well if im understanding correctly it seems khalifate will NOT e a default faction in 1.10 which is the next release and will plan for 1.12. That said this puts a hindrance on our tourney I would say since the whole point was to test the khalifate/other changes. What is the verdict on what we should do? Should we switch to the new version or play it out with khalifate even though they are a long way from release?

I'd like to notice that tournament rules support the change to the new development version, while the idea of the tourney supports both (1#checking khalifate balance 2#testing development version)

I don't like current khalifate balance so I'm for switching to the newest dev version asap.

I vote for Khalifate to be supported through an add-on, assuming the relevant parties can pull an add-on together quickly. Testing Khalifate is still important, the faction just won't make it into 1.10.x, let's keep testing Khalifate anyway. If not us, who? If not now, when?

I personally don't have much at stake anymore in the tournament so I hope we could still be testing khalife :) I really liked playing them.

well, being another version of development i dont understand the reasons of not adding khalifate, cause it was perfect ocasion to tune them better, just my two cents :doh:

The problem is that you can't change mainline unit stats during a stable series (or the stable versions won't be compatible with each other), and as 1.9.10 is 1.10-beta1, it's the tentative start of the stable series. So, if we want to be able to rebalance the Khalifate, it'll have to revert to being an add-on for the time being.

I am with Faello. Huzzaaa for not having khalifate around. As much I test this facton as much I dislike it. Elves had highest damage output fighter with 29 (5-4/3-3). A guy with more damage (30), more armored (10 blade res) and faster (6mp) is ridicolous for me. And seriously, after play WC_Khalifate, when AI sends you some arifs, I discover there is not good unit in whole default to deal with them. Basically you have to put your hardest mele in front and wait for retaliate. I dont think any elusive unit can afford have this guy around and be usefull. Without elusive units, factions that need them become horrible boring and hard to play. If you are ud, you have to use da to deal with naffat... A new faction for default would be fun, but I see khalifate pretty far from an acceptable balance in default.

EDIT: About other issue... I think is time start kicking all rotten apples that singed up for tournament without having will of play it. death160 for sure. And powershot and great_mage_Atari should be seriously warned. It makes my blood boil see how they are very active on other topics of this forum while totally ignoring this tournament.
