Re: The GRAND TAG! - a 2vs2 Tournament, 2nd Edition
Lovecraft was/is a horror writer. He writes overhyped, overrated horror books with little or no attention to detail aside from the "thrill".
"Hey you, bats should be nerfed."
"Why?"
"Because I lost a game to bat swarm and I'm bitterUhm... clarity... and... consistency? Yeah yeah that sounds good. Clarity and consistency."
Do not. Nerf. The bat.

I don't want to drag on this OT endlessly, but... Lovecraft was pretty good, we have to remember that he published his stories in 1920's and 1930's and he was way ahead of his times back then. I read The Call of Cthulu when I was in high school and it has made a significant impression on me.

Pretty fun posts about Lovecraft...
Just remember that first contact for most people with Chtulhu werent his books, but a role playing game (the best one I ever played). But may be this joke is still true

Alpha's semi-official announcement for the Clong Man and the Gang vs Ducks of Doom game:
We will try to play our first game on Wednesday 5th January, 17:00 GMT. "Semi-official", 'cause I don't know if all players can participate, but lets hope for the best

hi guys behold the first Clong Man and the Gang vs. Ducks of Doom game! A rather tense game with an unexpected happy end (depending on the point of view )
Since the game was reloaded, the server-replay was corrupted. However I managed to bring it into a workable state and will post a little How-to on Faellos request now. (bear in mind though, that I am by no means an xml/wml expert, so my solution may not be perfect, but it worked for me)
From what I’ve figured, the corrupted replay bug is caused by the fact that the after-reload game information is stored in the beginning of the replay file and that wesnoth client fails to recognize that the pre-reload info (which is stored in the end of the replay) must be read first. So in order to fix the replay, those two parts must be brought into the correct order.

So in order to fix the replay, those two parts must be brought into the correct order.
- 1. Extract the replay file from the .gz archive
2. Open it in a text editor (I used Microsoft Word 2007). There will be 2 pairs of [replay] [/replay] –tags. (The after-reload game info between the first pair, the pre-reload between the 2nd)
3. Search for the 2nd [replay]-tag, cut everything between the [replay][/replay]-tags and paste it into the beginning of the file (don’t forget to delete those tags afterwards)
4. Search for the [replay_start]-tags (there will be 2 tags if you reloaded once) and delete everything between 1st and 2nd [replay_start]-tags. (If I understand correctly, that is the game info of the after-reload) This way wesnoth client will not be confused by it and will use the game info of the pre-reload part instead
5. Add the edited version of replay into the .gz archive (you may need to download 7-zip, a freeware archive program, in order to edit .gz archives, which can be find here http://www.7-zip.org/)
6. Have fun

Re: The GRAND TAG! - a 2vs2 Tournament, 2nd Edition
It might be too early to say that, but I'm already under great impression so I just wanted to say one thing: Excellent work & cooperation from all of you guys, grzywacz & deekay helped with promoting the TGT on the official server, Rigor did the same on the ladder site, all of you guys spread the word over the server about TGT, not to mention the dev&mods support, and now we have some other developments connected with the TGT:
1)first Rigor(?)(at least I think it was Rigor who proposed this idea first, if I'm wrong feel free to correct me) and tiboloid provided us with the solution of fixing the disconnection movement bug via aquiring save from the replay of the game
2)neki launches a channel with video commentaries on YT, where we can already watch 45mins long commentary of last, truly epic TGT game played between Clong Man and the Gang and Ducks of Doom (a lot of effort neki, good job!)
3)alpha1 provides us with a HOWTO regarding the repairing replays from reloaded games which is invaluable in case of high skill level games that last really long even with the timer and reloads are really hard to evade
alpha1's solution goes to the 1st post and can be found under movement bug solution (I would suggest to put it somewhere in the technical thread, devs know how to repair replays ofc but asking Yogibear to repair every single repair that has to be repaired might be a little bit too much to expect ) link to neki's brutalwesnoth YT channel was put to the useful links section, I will also put links to his video commentaries in the Tournament News section of the 1st post of this thread if he will have time to do another video commentaries of TGT games. I also put actual TGT tree to the 1st post TGT Status section, so you can easily check who will play who in the current round.
I will also use this post to remind that next TGT game - between Nerds R Us & our 1st edition TGT champions - Noob Leavers will be played tomorrow at 12:00 of GMT, so get some coffe, get comfortable on your chairs and join them as observers to watch their epic struggle

Re: The GRAND TAG! - a 2vs2 Tournament, 2nd Edition
After an an extremely exhausting and painful game, sadistically prolonged by RNG in villages with palindromic coordinates, Noob Leavers won their first game against Nerds R US on Clash.
Second game will be played next Saturday, January 15th, at 15GMT.
Replay attached. Thanks!
