confusing German translation (Unerschütterlich)
Hello.
I noticed a mistake in a German translation.
- in the game in the Help menu: "Unerschütterlich" (Steadfast)
The text:
"Diese Einheit steht wie ein Fels im Schlachtgetümmel und ihre Schlagkraft ist verdoppelt. Wenn sie sich aber verteidigt, steigt sie nur um maximal 50%.
Auf die Anfälligkeit für Schaden wirkt diese Fertigkeit sich wohlgemerkt nicht aus."
The statement is false or confused.
I wrote an alternative text which reflects the facts correctly.
My text:
"Diese Einheit steht wie ein Fels im Schlachtgetümmel, denn ihre Resistenz ist verdoppelt, wenn sie sich verteidigt, allerdings steigt ihre Resistenz nur bis maximal 50%.
Bei Anfälligkeiten gegen Schadensarten wirkt sich diese Fertigkeit nicht aus."
I hope: The text changes with a patch.
I am pleased with feedback, in English or German
and sorry for my poor english.
Sincere regards. Dennis.

Re: confusing German translation (Unerschütterlich)
Well spotted Dennis.
I am not a translator for Wesnoth, so I do not know how the process is here. But in case a translator comes across your post:
Lately I contributed a tiny little to a translation on https://www.transifex.com/. While their idea is sound, I do not like their
interface very much, but it might be useful.

Re: confusing German translation (Unerschütterlich)
Hello Chewan.
Therefore, resistance is no Attack Damage
The German translation say: "the attack damage of the unit with Steadfast is increased. In the defense only by 50%. ......." It is wrong.
Resistance is no Attack Damage.
Resistance affects the opponent's attack damage. And the attack damage is reduced and not doubled. Resistance is doubled.
In my text not only words were replaced.
I put commas and periods different.
I use "Personalpronomen" different.
My text say: "The resistance is doubled, but only in the defense and until a maximum of 50%. ........."
Do you understand me?: "mistake in a German translation – statement is false or confused"
Sincere regards. Dennis.

Re: confusing German translation (Unerschütterlich)
My german is no more at top levels, but after reading the description I agree with Dennis_, the current German translation is rather confusing.
I find his translation much clearer.

Thanks, Dennis_!
It seems nobody committed your fix yet, so I'll take care of it.
BTW, the error slipped in during 1.12.2, before that it was

Your version definitely is better than that translation, so I'd call it an overall winDiese Einheit steht wie ein Fels in der Schlacht. Ihre Resistenzen werden verdoppelt, jedoch maximal auf 50%, wenn sie sich gegen Feinde verteidigt.
