In the campaign "The Sojournings of Grog", Elyssa says about a river :
What does that mean ? Could someone describe it to me ?It is said to open out into a huge bore near the sea.

Re: Clarification
It's most likely referring to a tidal bore. It's a type of wave that occurs when the tide comes in on some rivers.
Wikipedia suggests that it would be called "un mascaret" in French, assuming that you're translating into that language based on the location you give for yourself.

Re: Clarification
Eymology suggests more something like a strait or a gulf.
'Mascaret' is the name of the tidal wave, not of a coastal configuration.
Just my two cents.
Friendly,

Re: Clarification
Bore isn't a coastal shape in English either though. It seems likely the word is being misused here, and the author is trying to say a place where a bore occurs.
