Becoming a translator?
Hello everyone.
I was thinking of becoming a translator for the game but I'm not sure how this goes and what I must do for it. How do I apply and whatnot so this is what this thread is for.
I wish to become a Bulgarian translator, translating Wesnoth from English into Bulgarian. Since in its current version, almost nothing in the game is translated in Bulgarian, there is a lot that needs to be done.
I have been playing the game since 1.2 so i am quite familliar with everything about it. I have a C2 level of English proficiency and can support it with a required cerificate. Bulgarian is my mother language, I have aways recieved excelent grades in bulgarian language classes, literature and also quite enjoy reading and writing. As of all this I believe that I'm a great candidate for the job 
So, any thoughts?

Its easy, just get the PO files and edit them 
First you should contact the maintainer for Bulgarian or any other of the team, if they are still active. If not enter in contact with Ivanovic, applying to become the new one.
The Bulgarian wikipage can be found at http://wiki.wesnoth.org/BulgarianTranslation, update it if needed. An more in depth explanation is on http://wiki.wesnoth.org/WesnothTranslationsHowTo.
The PO files can be got via http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/wesnoth/trunk/po/ but there may be already more up to date files with one of the previous translators.
When you have all files just start translating (POedit or Virtaal are recommended programs) and send the finished work to your maintainer.

Hello and welcome!
Do you have any experience with software translation? I find it always best to start with the short strings, so you can get your terminology sorted out. e.g. for units, do the unit names first and the descriptions later.
