Guess the song

Postby blueknight1758 » October 4th, 2011, 5:10 pm

Because I'm bored let's Play a game
Write some lyrics for a song and see if anyone can guess the song from your lyrics.

"All around me a familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright an early for the daily races
Going nowhere going nowhere."

Mad World due to that cute little text box at the top of my browser.

"It's peanut butter jelly time!"
"Peanut butter jelly time!"
"Peanut butter jelly time!"
"Peanut butter jelly time!"

(see what I'm getting at?)

Or, you could not cheat, and actually try. And, if you really want it, that was "Peanut Butter Jelly TIme".

"My knuckles have turned to white
There's no turning back tonight
Kiss me one last time"

Love that song. What it it?

It's "Its Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door"

"A long long time ago
in a galaxy far away
Naboo was under an attack"

What about this song. Hint: It's a Spoof song.

After some thought (about 5 seconds of it), I realized that there is only one extremely well-known singer/songwriter that makes spoofs, parodies, what have you, and makes a good deal of money doing it. Also, the beginning of the song is near exact to the original in which it takes its origin. I also just knew this song by heart (thank you iTunes). So without further ado...

The Saga Begins
"Weird Al" Yankovic
Running With Scissors
1999

Here's a good one:
"I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would."

Did you cheat? It would be really cool if you actually knew that song.

Using Simon and Garfunkel in a guess the song thread is like using "John Smith" in a "guess the man's name" thread (even though they didn't write it). That is, of course, El Condor Pasa (If I Could).

Rather than picking something deep and meaningful, my 'now playing':

I'll be with them asleep and dreaming
I'll be there when they wake with screaming
At the hour of death then I will nurse them
To have a moment more to curse them
Watch the maggots crawl out of them
Hear the angels call above them
Watch them as the cold air sucks them
Down to hell, goodnight, God love them

Using The Pogues in a music thread on a forum mostly inhabited by Europeans is like giving me trivia question about Pearl Jam. The song entailed is Rake at the Gates of Hell.

Next song on my list (not too difficult, but I love the song):

There's a time in our lives
we start again on writing our part
as the story goes on it's the rule that we remember our lines

I know everyone would want me to say
that I'm not afraid to be alone

I'm gonna live I'm alright,
I'm gonna die it's alright, I'm okay
Lai dai dai
I'm gonna live I'm alright,
I'm gonna die it's alright, I'm okay
Lai dai dai

I really have no idea

So here's mine (love this song):

I'm at war with the world
And they try to pull me into the dark
I struggle to find my faith
As I'm slipping from your arms

It's getting harder to stay awake
And my strength is fading fast
You breathe into me at last

I'm awake, I'm alive
Now I know what I believe inside
Now it's my time
I'll do what I want 'cause this is my life
(Here, right now) Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I'm awake, and I'm alive
