Is there a plan to ever allow more than2 players at a time?
One of the great things about some multiplayer strategy games out there is that if you want to play with a friend, you don't have to directly compete with them -- you can add a couple of AI opponents and team up against them....

can't you already do this? i remember having at least 4 players in one game (all controlled by me, for debug purposes) in version 0.6.99.3-3

Yes, you can play with up to eight players.
Different scenarios allow different numbers of players.
If you select a random map, you can go to the 'Settings' and configure the map to have up to eight players.
You can also choose for some players to be teamed up together.
