Surely that depends on what distro you are using, and how you installed it?

For me, using Fedora Core 4, the executables are in /usr/bin, and I installed it with yum. The save files and music and stuff are in /home/.../.wesnoth.

HTH :)

WIth debian (which is pretty similar to ubuntu, I've heard) it is /usr/share/data/wesnoth/ for the data, and /usr/games/wesnoth for the binary.

Ah, that exceeds my (admittedly limited) knowledge, sorry... but it must be similar. The save files and wotnot, at least, must be in your home directory, I'd guess...

What are you trying to do?

I'm trying to add new music to the game, but I can't find the multiplayer.cfg and the directory, where the .ogg files are placed :?

music goes in ./music (same level as ./data)
multiplayer.cfg is IN ./data

You can try find /usr -name "*.ogg"
Hope springs eternal.

Hello out there...

the installation paths for Wesnoth under Ubuntu are a little bit different from those under Debian.

/usr/share/games/wesnoth contains the fonts, the music and some additional .zip-Files including the coredata (important for all those who want to edit their units etc.).

/usr/share/docs/wesnoth contains the manuals.

Aside there are the following directories existing...
/usr/share/docs/wesnoth-data
/usr/share/docs/wesnoth-music

Thanatos

edit: these paths were checked under Ubuntu 5.10 with Wesnoth 1.0.1 installed...
