Yes, and I'm a.. (SHOCK!) winy brat.

A 'futuristic french fry' not only has a lot of f's, it's also a sort in joke between me and my sister. But yes, it is 'freedom', not 'french' now, the joke was made before the constipated monkey came into office
See, I think it's Seiryuu's sig, 'america is a melting pot: the scum floats to the top, and the people on the bottom get burned'

EDIT

oh yeah, just to clarify, 1.2 does not mean 1.1.2, it means 1.2.0, etc

There was a promotion on a CD for 0.8.8.

A mate of mine told me how good it was (bioman) and told me to get it. I did!

Never regretted it, but then who ever regrets downloading a free game? They might not use it but rarely do people regret it!

Anyway, my gratitude for this game is being posted *here* "Thanks for filling hours of boredom!"

Lets see... I'm pretty new, I think it was 1.1. But it was probably the version before that.

0.5.x, I believe. Maybe a bit earlier, actually, as I still remember when the Loyalists were called the "Humans" and had only 5 different units. :P

1.0.2
Current version? but I see 1.1 as an option. Maybe thyat's a BETA? Or just a place-holder for future release?

There are two branches. 1.0.2 is stable and almost free of bugs and fully playable.
1.1.x is the development version which might be not fully playable or be buggy, because of the lots of changes made to it.

As toms says, there are two branches, and thus two current versions: 1.0.2 is the second revision of 1.0, the "stable branch", so it counts as 1.0, and 1.1.4 is the fourth revision of 1.1, the "development branch", so it counts as 1.1.

The development branch could be considered beta, but "experimental" (or "unstable") are probably better descriptions. It's basically the stuff that a proprietary game company would never let you see, but since this is open source, you can. There will probably be actual betas of the new stable version (which will be called 1.2) before it's released.

Hmm, I also just realized that you can't assume that someone who started with 1.0 has been playing longer than someone who started with 1.1, since they're both current versions. With all the previous versions, you could more-or-less assume that someone who started with a lower number had been playing longer, but that's no longer really true....

Think I started with 0.8 (or even early 0.9) in spring 2005 (IIRC).

1.0.2, because it is stable and smaller (and with my internet connection it really matters). Though I downloaded 1.1.7, I think this version is worse (when I found out, that strong undead Spirit has gain drain to be even stronger and grafic is worse, because I dislike "realistic" fantasy... So I think I will stay at version 1.0.2.

0.6 something or the other - I'd have to check on my older Mac to find out exactly which - I've still got it on there!!

I looked at it a couple of weeks ago, just for nostalgia - it looks pretty crude now. You don't realize just how far Wesnoth has come until you see a version 'that' old.

EDIT
It's v0.6.1
