When I write debug does not open, it says *wfl* null. What should I do?

A few questions:
- What version of Wesnoth do you use? 1.14 is the current stable, and should contain only very few bugs. 1.15 however is the development version that might contain a lot of bugs.
- What did you type exactly, where did you type it (in game or in the main screen?), and how did you get the typing window/bar to appear (or is your question because you did not get a place where to type it?)
To activate debug mode, you'll have to type ":debug" (without the quotation marks) while in a running game (not in a menu I think). It doesn't work in online multiplayer.
If you open a chat with "m", you'll have to type "/debug" to activate debug mode.
When you activate debug mode, nothing on the screen changes instantly iirc. However, when you right click on a unit or tile on the map, there should be additional options in the right click menu that weren't there without debug mode.
Feel free to ask further if I didn't answer your question.
