I think most of the help texts are in the game itself, just gotta find them. A few shortcuts: Unit help just hit d for description and it brings up everything you ever wanted to know about that unit. t for terrain is similar (actually I changed the hotkey to t, naughty me) Hovering over any words on the units box on the right also gives loads of info.
